I think my store has hit rock bottom!

Some of you may recall a while back that a guy in the deli where I work was arrested for breaking into a school, but he was allowed to come back to work after missing one night because he was locked up.  He only lasted a couple more weeks before he was taken off the schedule completely because the store wouldn't work with his community service schedule.

Well this past week he was back to work at our store.  And get this, this idiot who broke into a school, while drunk and underage, and heard to brag about his prior offenses out of state is now running a register!  Seriously are we that desperate on the front end to let thieves run a register!?

We're pretty desperate for my store's front end. All the baggers quit at the same time, and now the cashiers are quitting one week at a time.

I think it's becoming more and more apparent to people that unless you started working for the company 10 years ago, there's really no point in being there.

Any schmuck can go ANYWHERE and get piss wages, nonsensical schedules, retarded customers, and so on, and still be better off somehow.

Well, don't sweat it too much about your young, soon to be incarcerated little reprobate.  Just sit back and enjoy the show.  :)

But, but, the announcer at my store keeps saying Kroger offers "competitive pay and benefits." I mean, how could you consider below minimum wage not competitive?

Me thinks, he may be related to one of the "higher ups" therefore is given more leeway. Only because #1: he was arrested for breaking and entering and did time. Keeps his job.

#2: gets his job back AND runs a register after being "let go" because the store refused to work with his community service.

We do that: we get the displeasure of being terminated. Just my thoughts

State law may be what got his job back.  Here we have to work with people if they have community service or diversion class.    They could be hoping that he screws up in the checkstand and they can fire him.

Well Krogerman... this is what the new Kroger is going to be.... a store full of  social misfits, losers with criminal records, unhealthy/morbidly obese people, nasty people with no hygiene, people that have never worked steady before except as  former temps where a body was a body for some carnival in town, definitely people you wouldn't want to have as neighbors, or as someone handling your food purchases - basically not the bottom of the barrel  anymore like we had been mostly getting but what you find when you flip the barrel over and scrape the outside  bottom. These are the ultimate bottom feeders that even Walmart nor Kmart would even hire.  When you pay low starting wages, offer only part time with no benefits, and offer no real advancement/ full time career opportunities then as they say in the good book "What ye sow, then so shall you reap!" The managers and company are brazen enough to justify hiring these people by using the Diversity card and the old copout of "Well we need people so we must give everyone that applies a chance". I for one will not shop where personal cleanliness and hygiene is not required, nor will I shop where creepy looking/ acting work release felons, perverts,  or purple haired tattooed freaks are acceptable as customer service employees. What's a few dollars more when it comes to your food purchases if it means clean, polite, and knowledgeable customer service- I'll gladly pay a little more for that!

The Dillons division of Kroger is becoming a cesspool of idiots because they refuse to pay anything. They pay their night crew a NICKEL above minimum wage to throw 55 cases/hr and if your so much as 5 cases/hr too slow, they pull you leaving the night crew short handed and wondering why ****s not getting done. I swear, every day im with this company, its something even more mroonic than the last day, and honestly i'd much rather be broke.
