Hey all. I had an interview at my local Kroger on Wednesday Oct. 30, one week ago today. In the interview the manager said I would be in the meat department and would be stocking and rotating. She said I was basically hired but they would call me for my first day when they have my drug/background test results. It's been almost 8 days. Should I call them? I know I should pass both tests because I don't do drugs and have no criminal past... Also if someone who stocks and rotates in the meat department could tell me how the job is that would be great. I'm new to forums so if I posted wrong or in the wrong section or something, sorry.
^ I second this. The more effort you put in, the quicker the results will be. I was waiting to hear something on my drug test, called the office, and 'OH YEAH, you're ready to go, come to orientation this week'. Had I waited, it may have taken longer, or they might have filled a position I wanted. Your anxiety is not bugging them, it is showing them you really want the job.

Call them. Do you know how many people the ARM talks to? The squeaky wheel gets the job. Don't be rude or demanding. Just let them know that you're still interested and ready to get to work.
Called and they said background checks always take two weeks so it hasn't come back yet. She also said she would call me later today for an orientation class. I hope she meant it.

Hello, this is the first anon replier. You now owe me a dollar.
Ok. Seriously confused and absolutely frustrated now. I call them today and I get a woman who says background checks take 2 weeks and that's why I haven't heard back. But she then went on to say "Ok, I'll give you a call later today for orientation." Needless to say I never got the call. I'm also getting called for other interviews at other places. Because Kroger won't get their crap together, I have NO IDEA what to tell other people about when or if I can interview, because I'm afraid I may schedule an interview on what turns out to be my first day at Kroger. I seriously don't understand why it's so hard to call someone WHEN YOU SAY YOU'RE GOING TO! I'm the person who originally posted the first question btw. Don't know why it listed me as anonymous.

Schedule your interviews, don't put everything else on the back burner for Kroger. Call again tomorrow. The ARM's are always busy and not all of them are super organized. When I get new hires coming back to my dept I stay in touch with our ARM so that she won't get to doing other things and forget about my people. The ones who communicate get their needs taken care of quicker.
First thing you would do in the morning would be to lock for out of dates. That would be the whole meat department. If a truck has came in you would have to stock the sandwich meats, breakfast meat or should I just say all the package meats. If they hire you as a wrapper you would be wrapping the meat as the meat cutter cuts and trays it down a conveyor belt. You will have to learn to wrap fast. Can be very tiring on you upper shoulders and arms. It is a lot of reaching forward.

Oh ok. I thought I would be stocking more like packaged meat like hamburger and chicken onto the outside shelves/coolers. But I have no problem doing what you said either. Thanks for replying.

Huge frickin surprise she never called. Now, another week later, I decided to give another call. I was bounced around between people barely able to get a single word out for around an hour. This time they said they just had a job fair and were behind because they just hired a bunch of people. I don't think this should affect my employment as I interviewed weeks ago but whatever. I was then told that the hiring manager was busy and would find my paperwork and call me later today. Call me skeptical but I highly doubt she actually will. I'm so mad. I turned down other interviews because they had me believe I was hired there. Long question short, what should I do?
