I have a question, our Union Representative refuses to help me or answer my questions, unless I join. I would join if I felt he would

help long term, but I been told by many people in my store that once I join, he won't help anymore.

He stood in front of me, and directly told me that he can't answer questions to non union members, and at that point give me

a signup sheet and when I was done and handed it back he would answer my questions..

Who is this guys boss? I feel I should go a little higher to find out why this Union Representative is still active..

I have been told by a few that the Union Representative should help both members and non members, as it would show

that the Union is fighting for all, not just some. I know they need more members, but to show they are worth joining they should

show some type of support, our store hasn't got a good rep for having a Union Representative that cares, and most find out from others

don't bother joining, you wont get any help either way.

What should I do as far as Union Representative not offering to answer questions? I am understanding that all Union Representative dislike

to help non union members.. but if they show they care for all, it would incress there member count knowing they would have a strong

Union Representative to stand by them. I mean, to refuse to answer a question, Just a question is crazy.

You can threaten them with a lawsuit. First though, I'd contact a different representative or their "HR-like" people through their website if they have one. They might answer your questions.

My advice to you would be to educate yourself. Get a union handbook and read it. It's best not to rely on other people anyways, because they may misconstrue what is written.

Union reps should be fighting for all. They're not required to incur costs on your behalf, but they can at least answer some damn questions.

look up up who your executive board members are. Id complain to them.
