Manager dropped this line on me....

As part time and attending college, I was well aware that I'm not meeting minimum hours to get a raise. Yeah, I accept that. However, I did ask my manager if there were other ways to get a raise of sorts.

Then he drops this line to me: "Be happy that we're nice enough to pay you and everyone else to survive.", then brushing away my question.

Yeah... that did it in right there for me. I've tripled the effort in finding a new job and getting away from this ****hole.

Well... welcome to the new age store manager... they have been programmed thru many brainwashing sessions to be 110% Kroger loyal to any policies, mandates, and attitudes. Their arrogance and blind faith to the almighty greed driven company is unbelievable nowadays. A lot of the good hearted, good spirited, mgmt. has been weeded out or wouldn't accept the heartless, sadistic master plan the henchmen at G. O. were implementing. Over the years I have worked with many demoralizing, micro-managing workaholic mgmt. -some had no real outside/family life so they created their own little empire at the store.... some  overly enjoyed having control over their workforce because their pitiful outside life was totally dysfunctional and out of their control, some needed some serious psychiatric counseling- but had no idea how damn insane they were, and some were actually good hearted, nice people but their bully bosses had turned them into ruthless jerks in order to keep their jobs.

You appear to be sharper than most and have quickly seen what the situation is and the true nature of this new age supposedly diverse, non-bullying, caring, compassionate mgmt. You are right to move on asap- retail is basically a non-rewarding job but it doesn't have to be demoralizing, dreaded. Find a niche somewhere where the business is ran good and is profitable without sacrificing the morale, the wages, and an ACTUAL NICE WORK ENVIRONMENT. The smaller the business, the better- you have nowhere to go but up from the almighty KR.

Have to agree with the anon above me. My store got rid of all of the old managers we now have 5 or 6 new managers and they are all *******s except for one. I used to enjoying into work but now im just like **** it. I am in the process of looking for a new job. I have found 2 so far that are looking for someone to work full time for 10 dollars an hour and the other one is 9 dollars an hour. I'm about to say good bye to Kroger.

I'm waiting for the day when the top story on the news is, "Kroger executives shot by disgruntled employees."

Not going to happen. They don't pay us enough for us to be gun owners.
