Why does NOTHING work like it's supposed to?

Ever since I started at Kroger, I had to talk to the managers for just about everything when I really shouldn't have to. When I started, I had over 13 missing hours from my pay check. Took 3 weeks and THREE talks with the manager to finally get the back pay. At first I was never told or shown where the break room is or when I can take a break, so I just never took any. I eventually got in trouble for not taking my breaks. There are many more incidents like these but it would take days to explain them all. Basically, my store is run by a bunch of "managers" who are apparently "new to this store" and so don't know how to do anything. Anyway, the newest problem and the point of this post. My discount isn't working. I don't get my discount when I use my card. I was told I get 10% off of all Kroger brand products and yet, nothing. I just got the card and the woman behind the counter said she put that I am an employee on the file so I should be getting the discounts, but I'm not. I've again talked to the managers and was assured they would fix the problem and of course, they haven't. If anyone has ever had the same problem please tell me who I should talk to. Thanks. And I know that went on forever. So if you read all the way to the end, thanks. I owe you a cookie.

They should give you a new Plus card, thats what they did when I got hired. The one I had before was in my mom's account name so that's why though.

Instead of talking to the manager or COs, talk and ask fellow employees. If I recall, K+ updates Friday at 9am EDT weekly, so if you still do not have the discount tomorrow, ask the CSM the best route to take. To me, you are just as much at fault on some of this, if you don't know, ask a fellow employee. As for your pay, instead of bothering managers which have a ton on their plate as is, ask an employee who is the person in charge of payroll; then talk to that person as they take care of that job. We see so many people come and go so often and have a ton on our plate, we don't think about what a new person needs to know, we're overwhelmed as is taking care of this and/or that. Once again, take initiative, ask your fellow employee.

I DID talk to payroll. Know what they said? "Talk to your manager." Just about every question i've asked was answered with "talk to your manager."

mardoll seems to be a person with a lot on their plate making lots of excuses!!!!  there are a few things that will make even the most productive employees mad and disgruntled. not getting their pay correct and then nobody caring that the pay was not correct.

Bothering a co-manager about getting a new Kroger card will make them mad. They practically work every position in the store (besides rx) and the last thing they want to deal with is getting "the new guy's" Kroger card to work. That's what the customer service desk exists for. If you waste a co-manager's time, I can promise you that they will make your time at Kroger hell until they lose interest or change stores, whichever comes first.

 This

Ask your HR rep (IE store secretary), best way to get it. I didn't get mine till 3 week after I started. Do not bother with any manager about it agreed with this.

If you don't ask question, you expect me to by psychic and tell you the answer? Ask question, but don't bother with COs or Store managers, they got more to do than help with that. 2 weeks to christmas, 3 weeks to key retailing. That is a lot on key positions plates, especially when January is when they demote/promote in certain areas.

Besides not getting payroll correct EVER it amazes me that a billion dollar company has faulty equipment in all their stores from the scales to the time clock to the handhelds and date guns and the wrapping machines even the misters in the seafood cases.  Seriously? They should be humiliated.

We just had a remodel a few months ago.

Brand new ovens, $10,000 each.

One of them is already dead. Some part is ruined, and had to be ordered.

Half the "new" stuff is already going out. It's pathetic.

Maybe it's part of "Murphy's Law"? The bigger a company is, the bigger the screw ups?
