I work in Kroger southwest under the local 1000 contract and I have been paid for working 40 hours for 12 weeks but they are saying because one of those days was a personal holiday that I got paid for a full 8 hour shift I can't be converted to full time. Now my question is is this true that personal days don't count or are they just trying to cheat me so they can cut my hours because they are trying to hire a new guy in my department which is produce.
My contract personals, or extralegal hours like vacations, or overtime don't count. Also being asked to stay don't count either.
Both of those were acceptable for reaching full time hours when I became full time. They just had to be hours worked; not income replacements like personal time, vacation, legal holiday pay, etc. Must be 12 consecutive weeks of 40 worked hours. Look at your union handbook (or borrow another's) - the requirements are stated rather explicitly.
they'll do what they can to prevent their ratio of FT to PT employees from going sour. We had a guy working 40 hours for 11 weeks and we got told by management he could only work 28, for one week. now he's back to 40 the following week. they can and will screw you unless the needs of the store overpower you being able to clip someone.
I'm not sure about the new Local 1000 contract but I think it is only 32 or 38 hours for 12 weeks to be considered full time. It's never been 40 hours in our local that I know of.
Ya, well when I got locked in at 40 hours, they didnt submit it until 6 months later, and gave me a 34.00 check for retro pay, knowing they owe me 250.00. They love screwing people.
