Well today we started enrolling people on our new time clock. It scans your fingerprint just like the old one, just has a bigger screen and more buttons. Also today posted in our receiving area and breakroom was a new dress code for vendors. Wasn't aware that there was a problem with this, but there was a 3-4 page memo on this. Also we are supposed to start our store remodel in October. Guess what else happens in October? Our contract is up for a vote again!
^ Actually, this goes leaps and bounds beyond the dress code issue.
You take a company as large as, say, Coca-Cola, and a store as large as Kroger. Neither can afford to lose business by breaking ties, so they reach agreements on various issues to keep each other happy.
Now let's consider a smaller vendor:
From Kroger's point of view, they need a spot on the shelf even more than Kroger needs them. So they can impose things upon a vendor and the vendor is sure to comply. See how it works?
I see what you are saying, but at our store, they can basically wear anything as long as they are covered and it's not inappropriate. For example, if the vendor wants to wear a green shirt and purple pants with blue stripes so be it. I've seen customers come in dressed really off the wall. Like people of walmart (Google it) odd. And we still serve them.
Vendors sure as hell need to stop wearing shorts and sandals at my store when they stock. This is quite often a hint that they are the lowest IQ employees who work directly or indirectly for Kroger. Oh and quit acting like slinging chips is anywhere near as hard as putting out the charcoal or stocking the ice. You are stocking air pretty much. Lol.
My buddy who is a vendor says he have to drive a lot, deal with ****headed employees who think they are better, and the space THEY paid to use taken up by THE STORE's product. So what he does, if it's a spot his company paid for, and it is taken up by the store's product, he simply takes the product off te shelf and puts his company's product in its space.
The Frito-Lay people are the best dressed that come into our store.
If the Coke guy would wear deodorant then that would be super. Pepsi guys dress like they just rolled out of bed.
Randomness aside, I agree with the dress code. They're at work, dress like it. Their companies should actually enforce a dress code, but whatever..if Kroger can get away with it then awesome.

They did some re-set to our Deli at store 922 and the merchandisers ordered two full skids of product that we will never use. $5,000 down the drain and they want to bitch about a quarter hour OT.
I like the one Pepsi guy that comes into my store sometimes (not sure if we get the same guys or not SayWhat). I don't know what his name is but he is the friendlist guy ever, will start a conversation with you and everything :)
Some of them just don't even acknowledge you but this guy is pretty cool.
This is random but he told me that if he goes out to eat while on his lunch break, it HAS to be a place that sells Pepsi products. If someone even takes a picture of him with a Coke product, he can be fired. :(

That's horrible. The only places that serve Pepsi are restaurants owned by the Pepsi conglomerate, like KFC and Taco Bell.

wow! Talk about product loyalty! That has to be tiring if he goes out to eat that he has to only go to places that sell pepsi products!

We probably don't get the same guys, we're 20 miles away from another Kroger store. Most of our vendors are nice, the one just doesn't use any deodorant, which isn't bad right now...but pretty ripe in the summertime.

That is not true. Their are restaurants that serve Pepsi that are not owned by Pepsi. And yes they can be fired they can go their but they have to drink tea or water. It is a conflict of interest. I used to think it was dumb but really it is not. You work for Coke why would you drink Pepsi? What does that show to other people see the message?
Does this include if he's off the clock for the day? I can sort of understand if he's on lunch and whatnot, because he goes back to work, but what if he's done for the day?
