Applying at Kroger with experience
Permalink

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in working overnight at Kroger. I was looking for a second job to supplement my income, I have 5 years experience in this industry and a very in depth knowledge of Dry/Frozen/Dairy Grocery operations. If I were to apply and get an interview what rate of pay would I be offered? I've heard Kroger does give you experience pay, but I'm not sure. I would hate to apply and go through the interview process only to be offered 7.30 per hour. If its any help, I am in the Atlanta division.

Please & Thank You

Timmy

I work with a guy in my department who had 30+ years of experience in retail. Still started him at minimum wage. Kroger doesn't care who your are or how good you are as a worker, just that they get a warm body they can use. If you're looking for anything more I would suggest applying elsewhere. FYI the guy is also a Vietnam veteran and still says that Kroger is the most physically demanding job he has ever held. And it's 7.40 an hour.

I heard from someone I know that applied, it is $9.65 an hour for night stocking  plus .50 cent an hour night premium from midnight to 6 am I think in one of our local Krogers.

No experience. The sign says hiring with pay up to $13.20 depending on experience. Not sure what or who you gotta know to make that.

I would say put down in your app that you have the expirence and wait until you get your time in to be union and then start asking about it with management and if they don't go to the union.

Kroger wont pay you for your experience Unless you diligently follow up after you start working. You have to keep calling them asking about it, if its not done within a month you forfeit the experience pay. They bet you'll forget or not even try. They dont like paying people. Multiple people have found out at work after its too late

basically they'll just give you one bump up from minimum..do not expect much or you'll get disappointed. I'm a rehire that was on old contract for several years making several more an hour than I do now PLUS made several hours more per hour doing same experience jobs for other companies. They were like sweet, welcome back.. 8.35 (which is the next paygrade from 7.90 minimum wage). Meh, it's something..it's a job, I didn't cry about it but it took FOREVER so don't expect it to be quick. Dat retro pay lol.

But yes you gotta follow up with it like this poster said or you'll never get it. Follow up with your HR person, bring old stubs for proof or go to worknumber website to get them. Have them make in a call so you know they actually tried to do it. It's a PITA but worth it.
