What exactly does the bakery coordinator do? He came to my store today and asked about a bunch of Key Retailing reports. Do these people audit KR or something?
Every district has a coordinator for each department. They are responsible for making sure their departments run smoothly and according to company standards. They are essentially a department manager for 18 bakery departments (or however many stores are in your district).
Thats the best way to put it, but yeah they make sure plans are being executed and are somehow responsible. They're also giving directions on capturing sales and some are typically were department heads at some point. In our district we've have had some co-managers moved up to coordinators and then to store manager.

I'm grateful our coordinator is really cool and doesn't try to micromanage us or get in our hair too much.
I changed divisions a few years ago, and the coordinator was a nightmare. "Oh.. I know it's Sunday, and we're all busy, but we're going to stop what we're doing, and completely re-arrange the way we merchandise all this product. Oh... it's not in any plan-o-gram or anything. I just made this **** up off the top of my head for no reason at all."
They basically come in and tell you everything you're doing is wrong, even though you've been doing it for the last ten years or more.
This.
The deli/bakery coordinator....can't stand her. Or any of those management people who come in and complain about the bakery. You can't do anything to please them it seems.
