Part Time Employees Eligible for Insurance?

Hi, I was just wondering if part time employees are eligible for insurance? I'm a part time pharmacy tech (non union) and have been for a year and 11 months. I really want off my parents insurance but idk what the process is.

if someone knows if I'm eligible I'd appreciate being told, and what the different plans are cause I really only need health, dental, and Rx coverage If that combo is possible. If it is, does anyone know the price or where I can find out besides my store? My managers arent always the most helpful people.

thNk you!

It is going to depend on where you are located.  In my state part-time employees are eligible for insurance after 18 months.  Things are different now though with Obamacare.  If you work less then 30 hours a week (which is why we now have 28 hour cap on PT) you will not be eligible for insurance at all.

From what I know in the midsouth division, pharmacy techs don't get health insurance through the company at all. Insurance is managed more or less through the union and the pharmacy is non-union.

Well, I know one of the girls I work with who is full time has kroger insurance. There are 2 kinds, there's one that's for Union members and a different one for non union. But idk if part timers qualify

In our division, part-timers do get health insurance after being at the store for 9 months, but from what I know, you only get the health insurance if you're part of the union. It's possible non-union workers get it, too.

But even if I did get it, I wouldn't, because there's no prescription drug coverage for part-timers. We have to either get full-time (which is near impossible) or pay for our own plan. I would rather pay for my own health insurance that I know I can get my expensive medication covered.

Pharm techs get the same insurance that the managers get since we're non-union. Obviously this isn't the same if the pharmacy is union.
