So, folks, to get away from the normal frustrations and tiresome events during your shifts, what do you all normally do during your downtime?
I work the afternoon/evening shift at the front end. It's when we have that afternoon rush, but things die down by about 9PM. After that, we just start shouting jokes, punts, banters, etc at the front end. The customers don't mind, in fact they often say that it helps "liven up" things. Honestly it's a great way for us to just wind down before leaving.
Management doesn't really care, and some times even joins in but as long as our original tasks get done (go-backs, cleaning, refilling bags, etc).
Out here in the fuel station we do what we always do whenever we aren't busy; We watch Netflix! I just bring my laptop and open up Netflix at the start of my shift, then when things need to get done or a customer comes up I hit pause. With only one person out in the kiosk at a time (other than a shift overlap) we get to enjoy the company of ourselves and whichever device we are able to bring in. Management doesn't mind it since we get our work done and keep the station cleaned. In fact I'm at work while I'm typing this ;p
Ha, I don't have any down time until after I am clocked out and gone home. I work with too many slackers that always seem to have a lot of extra down time.
Sometimes we have orgies. I'll round up the hottest female staff, heard us into the training room, put up the TRAINING IN PROGRESS SIGN and lock the door. Good way to blow off steam for an hour~~
