so today one of my coworkers in the deli rung up someone from the meat department. it was just marked down meat about five boston butts and thirty two tubes of five lb ground beef. the manager of the deli then told my deli associate that we no longer ring up marked down meat from employees in the deli. my deli associate had to void out all merchandise and get an override because after the void she wasnt able to ring up the next customer. she claims she didnt know that we couldnt ring up marked down meat from employees. my thing is ive seen more than just her do it iii even do it. could we get in trouble for it. ive even seen the back up and deli manager get marked down items including meat rung up in the deli while on the clock. btw the meat associate didnt actually bring thirty two tubes of meat she bought one for her to scan thirty two times. could my coworker get in trouble for the voided transaction or will she be ok. we really thought it would be fine. its been fine before jus curious
You probably won't get in trouble since you didn't finish the order but what you are describing sounds fishy. I wouldn't be surprised if there were only 1 tube of meat actually marked down. That checkout in the deli is for customers, not employees on the clock.
rules change. what may have been ok before may not be now. there may have been a problem with shrink/dishonesty. follow what you've been told the rule is now.
Associates may purchase merchandise only on the same terms and conditions as regular customers. This means that all damaged or mark-down merchandise must be cleared with the Store Manager.
