I was moved from dairy to produce yesterday. When my store manager called me in to tell me, I asked her if I had done something wrong in dairy, and her response was 'we are not here to discuss that', which I guess is code for yes. I have no idea what I did. I had asked the co-manager in charge of dairy for feedback last week and wad told everything was fine. I cant remember exactly what the store manager did say about the reason for the change, but it seemed like she wad saying that a lead in another dept said I did something wrong.
I have two concerns about this:
1- if I did something wrong, how am I supposed to not do it again if I have no idea what I did?
2- There is a lead in another department who has a history of telling lies about people. I dont know if this is the person involved my department change or not, but if it is, I feel I should be given an opportunity to defend myself.
I liked being in dairy, and I was 2nd in senority there. In produce, I think I am 5th or 6th.
What should I do? I joined the union recently, but I would rather not get them involved if possible. I dont want my store manager to feel like I am trying to cause trouble.
I am thankful I have a job. I would like to keep having a job, which I think means I would need to not do whatever I did that caused the issue. I have no idea what I did, so how can I not do it in the future?
That sounds fishy. Sounds like someone tight with the manager had some kind of problem with you or wanted your position opened up. They aren't exactly REQUIRED to give you an explanation but I would still pester them about it until they broke down and gave you an answer.

I thought people were joking when they said working for Kroger sucks...
If you couldn't make it in dairy, what makes them think you can make it in produce? Both of them are pretty challenging departments, but produce is a perishables department, whereas dairy is grocery; and perishables are harder to work in because of all the extra rules. You should probably be thankful she didn't put you in a worse department, like deli or front end.
