Post Info TOPIC: Wrong seniority

Wrong seniority
Permalink

I have encountered a problem ever since the E-schedule came out in my store. Two people who have lower seniority than me are above me on the list. Well, I eventually came up with the solution that somehow their hire date is being used instead of their promotion date. I was promoted way before they were so I am supposed to be above them on the list. I tried talking to my HR but she said there was nothing she could do to fix it. How should I go about dealing with this problem? Who should I contact?

Your supervisor, then your manager, then the union-in that order. It's like a checklist. If no one knows how to do it, it's time to file a grievance against e-schedule.

Not if you're a bagger, which seems to be TC's situation.

what if tc is a backup or a lead? hire date would still reign supreme as far as seniority goes.

Then his story wouldn't make sense.

Oh and also know that I have seniority over these people by both hire and promotion date, therefore, I should be above them on the list either way.

Keep in mind that the order of employees on the schedule does not necessarily reflect actual seniority. You would think it should, but it doesn't.

What is this promotion date you are talking about?

New as of December 15th 2013. The date of my first check from training. Is that my hire date or first day I actually worked my hire date?

If you start as part time and become full time, you have 2 important dates: your hire date and the date you are promoted to full time. Your date of promotion to FT determines your seniority within the group of other FT employees, which in turn is grouped higher in seniority than part time.

Your seniority date should be the first day you came in once you got hired, if not a few days before.
