drug screen

Does local 227 have a policy against post-interview random drug tests? There was an accident in the store yesterday and a poor elderly person fell. However, it was not in my department. There were also three at my store that night that could have been under the influence, however they were highly functioning. Could they randomly pop a DT on us?

sounds like a question a drug user would ask

Not sure if it is a regional thing but afaik they can screen specific individuals if they have to have some sort of evidence, but yes they can.

I think you usually get tested if you are the one who gets hurt, if they have to take you to the hospital.

But working while being under the influence but "highly functioning"? WTF...

My contract states that Kroger holds the right to screen you randomly and without warning any time they choose.

Typically, you will only need worry about a drug screen for the above stated reasons------or if you damage company property with a piece of power equipment, or smell of booze or drugs, or in any way give the impression you're under the influence of something.

Re the O.P.s story, in a customer or employee accident situation, all circumstances surrounding the event will be investigated. And if there is reasonable suspicion that any employees around the area it happened in even MAY have been high, then yes, drug testing should be required.
