The details aren't important, but there was a misunderstanding, I was the lowest level employee (but non-union) in the department, and thrown under the bus.
The incident was considered serious enough where the regional HR guy went down to the store after work. Over the phone he threatened me to either resign or be fired, with an email stating my intent within the hour, claiming it's less punative to resign than say I was fired. (I didn't have much unemployment coming so I resigned.) The contents of my letter were this:
I am giving the requisite notice of resignation to the Kroger company. Please do not disclose the contents of this letter. If there are any questions or concerns with this letter, please notify me.
Before I resigned I asked if I would be black listed from joining the company again. He gave a cryptic answer. I believe to the affect of "I can't tell what a manager may or may not do when you apply." I believe he said no to the black list though.
A fellow employee told me recently that if you resign without two weeks notice, you cannot be rehired. I feel I may have been fooled by Kroger HR. How can one view their file at Krappers and what ancilliary files, e.g. manager store level, corporate level are there? What can I do to rectify this? I would like the option to be rehired without a black list issue at some point in the future. (My job was a living wage job.)
