1. [Enter Amount], [Miscellaneous], *insert the coinstar slip to be franked (insert face up in the same machine that writes on checks), finish transaction.
2. [Enter Amount on Raincheck (doesn't matter if per pound or per item)], [Price Override], Scan Item, Key in the proper reason code (Here at my store, it'll be "4 - Customer Service"), Fill out the form at the back of the raincheck in the required fields (most likely cashier operator's number and register number), place inside till with checks.
3. Direct customers to Guest Care for rainchecks (or call Front End Manager), unless told otherwise.
4. First off, make sure that the item really can't be found. Try alternative PLU codes, or type in the entire UPC line, sans check number. If none works, be sure whatever price you're entering is correct:
[Enter Price], [Price Override], Scan Item, Key in reason code.
5. Call Front End Manager.
6. Should have instructions on certificate itself, if not, contact Front End Manager. Requires a bit of button mashing and repetitiveness.
***If your Front End Manager/Supervisor/Whoever gives you crap for having to call him/her over so many times, tell them to give you a better training. Unless of course training was supposed to have been covered on the computer training day, in that case, should've payed attention. But hey, they should've trained you in-person.***
Same anon here. I should add that for the rainchecks, your store might have a separate reason code for the raincheck. It might be number 2. If not, then customer service will suffice. But check first.
I learned nothing on computer about these scenarios. On a rregister by myself on day three after two short shifts w another cashier. These scenarios weren't encountered in those two days..

I understand. The red message was designed to embolden you to ask your management team questions without the feeling of intimidation.
Also, I should also add that they're phasing out the key-in codes for departments in favor of barcodes on the produce cheat sheet. Though, if it helps, Produce is 3194 (at least here in my store).

Before the new keyboards I could've told you how to do everything on this list. Now that they changed them and I no longer cashier, I can at least attempt.
1. [A digit like 1, 2, or 3 your store picks] [amount shown on slip] [Misc key]
2. [Enter price shown on raincheck (MUST HAVE MANAGEMENT SIGNATURE)] [Price override key] [Give reason (raincheck)] [scan]
3. Customer service handles all rainchecks. A member of store management has to put their signature on it so don't even try doing this at a checklane.
4. With the old keyboards, you could type in the price and then hit the department key (like 150 produce for an item that cost $1.50 from the produce.) Now I've heard they took off those keys and replaced them with hellishly long PLU codes for each department. Kroger thinks that the cashier will become more responsible because of this. However I'm guessing that they'll just give away the item out of sheer laziness.
5. If it has [Price]-M, get a front end supervisor. If it has [Price]-O then you press the override key and then the enter key.
6. These, like the other poster said, usually will have instructions for processing it.
Well, there you have it. Now you know why you should be trying to get in the meat dept.
