If someone used to be a department head, then they get demoted, and transferred to another store, do they get to jump ahead in seniority to their hire date, or do they start at the bottom?
A (former now :( ) coworker of mine is going to another store as their manager next week, and we are getting their former manager instead. She's status 3 so she gets her 40 hours. Which means me and the other part time employees get screwed.
Until today, they were hiring someone for our department. They were going to be trained to work nights. Now this lady, who already f'ed up her job once, gets to come here and jump ahead of us and get our hours? She's scheduled to close 2 nights next week but I have to close 3 times. This isn't fair to me.
If I worked in any other department in this store I'd be MUCH higher on the seniority list. I'm getting fed up with this. I'm beginning to feel like I'm being taken advantage of, I always come in every time they ask me to, and yet I get nothing in return.
wow. i imagine this won't be a pretty experience. You'll be staying overtime just to get her **** done and then management will bitch at you for it. Either way you can't win, so try and switch departments or just switch stores altogether.
Sadly yes. This happened to the deli at my store. The senior part timers were very upset their hours basically vanished when a successful grievance put a 40 hr problem person in their dept.
Ugh. I'm hoping it works out. She isn't going to be a manager at least, and I know my manager won't take any crap from this lady.
On one hand, we won't have to train her, she's already going to know how to do all this stuff.... but on the other hand I'm already expecting the worst.
It's not really easy for me to switch stores when they're all 30 miles apart. I doubt they'd let me switch departments, and I don't really want to. I like my department, I just don't like THIS.
