well my hours are pretty crazy, its interfering with my life and well im very new, ive only worked 2 weeks now. if i change my availability to free up my weekend and make more weekdays available am i taking a risk? Will they let me go since it hasnt been that long.
You're working in retail. You don't get weekends off. Ever. Request week days off if you want but requesting weekends, especially if you request BOTH saturday and sunday, will piss people off.

I thought people were joking when they said working for Kroger sucks...
I get my weekends off, but then again, I earned it. I pulled ALOT of shifts for other people, worked through vacations, (optional) and stayed longer than my shift, I also caught an ordering error in my dept that would have been very costly. As a reward I have weekends off.
You can request off for whatever days you want, BUT they won't give you hours elsewhere if they don't need you. Especially if you want off weekends, your hours will just drop and drop until you're barely working at all.
The grocery business is a weekend driven business. If you expect to have weekends off you're in the wrong place. Yes, you are putting your job on the line by requesting weekends off two weeks into your job.
^ My store has plenty of people fresh off the turnip truck with weekends unavailable - but they have pitifully low hours (under 20 over 4-5 different days).
I would be happy with consistent Fridays off. I -HATE- working on Friday. Saturday and Sunday are fine but Friday is, and shall forever be, my most hated day to work on.

I had to adjust my hours that i was available and they did not have a problem with that. Asking weekends off for this company is not a good thing if you want hours to work.
