All the customers know me by now. I'm in plain clothes with a cart shopping on my day off and they want me to help them with this or that. When I check out I have to bag my own groceries, hear all the complaints, talk about work. It's like I'm never off work. Spill on the floor? Still there - I better go up front and tell someone. I swear the cashier said "I don't care". Long lines? I can help direct them to a register that's opening or hear them bitch. Can you tell me where such and such is? I have my own bags. Ok, let me take the stuff out of the plastic and I will rebag them in my own bags I gave you and told you three time to use.
For once I would just like to go to a grocery store and be treated like a customer Rant over.
Do your real shopping at a store you don't work at our even somewhere else entirely. I know exactly what you mean. I get stopped all the time and asked where stuff is. I'm not working leave me alone. Doesn't matter if I'm off for the day or just off the clock. I'll be standing there with my purchased items bagged in hand and still get stopped with questions. I don't like to go to any Kroger on a day off anyway now. I'll hear there's a call waiting for and twitch. I'll see lines out of control and get anxious. It's like mild PTSD.
Just ignore them unless it's a life it death emergency. Your on YOUR time not theirs.
As for the spill, it's up to you to let them know. You're under NO obligation.
I do this at my store whenever I have to shop there in a pinch. I've gotten bitched at, yelled at etc. I just laugh and ignore them. It pisses them off, but as long as they don't touch me, I won't touch them.
just politely tell them "I'm sorry but I am currently not working. I am here shopping for my family" You might have to say that several dozen times but soon they will realize and leave you alone. I miss my 10% off Kroger brand discount.

Some of us don't have a choice, because we don't want to travel 30 miles to get to another Kroger store.
I shop at Walmart sometimes but I'd rather use my discount.'
I usually don't have too many people bother me when I'm there on a day off though. It's happened a couple times but not enough to annoy me. But usually I'm in there with either my brother or my dad, so that's probably why I don't get bothered much.
I rarely actually shop at a Kroger, as I find better deals generally at Aldi and Walmart (and knowing how Kroger operates from the inside, I'd honestly prefer not to put money back into the company), but if I do stop in one, it's never the one I work at. If possible, I suggest you do as well as I think that would eliminate some of the frustration you're feeling.
I shopped at a different Kroger last night. I even had my work shirt on and wasn't bothered one time! I did give the cashier some tips on his ring tender on the way out though!!
