Family members/favoritism

So a few months ago, I posted a topic talking about how the mom of a certain "pet" of our manager might be working in my dept. soon and sure enough it's coming true.

Idk when she's on the schedule yet but a lot of people are pissed off about it. A couple people already said they're son/daughter had applied before to work in a different dept. but the hiring lady never gave them the time of day...now when it comes to a certain favorite, it's ok for her and her mom to now be in the same department? The whole store is supposedly pissed off at the hiring manager from what i hear.

This is BS, especially when we're a small department already. They'll use this as an excuse to cut everyone who's part time to less than 20 hours a week and I need 25+ to keep my insurance. They'll want all the same days off i'm sure, any time there's some event going on. And with her, there's ALWAYS some event going on, some reason she can't work whatever day.

The favoritism going on is disgusting. It all comes down to who you know it seems like.

A lot of union contracts have a clause stating that the company can't cut the hours of existing workers for new hires. Talk to your union and you should be able to keep the same number of hours.

You need to get your department people to file ethicspoints.com complaints.

To top it off, i've probably pissed off my department head. Last night, I sent a message asking her on Facebook if they were going to use hiring this lady as an excuse to cut hours, that i don't want to lose my insurance. I know for a fact she saw my message but she hasn't answered. I sent another one saying sorry if that sounded mean last night, and she still hasn't answered even though I can see the times she opened the messages.

So I'm just feeling kind of blah now. It's a lost cause i think. :(
