Sunday pay is listed on my paystub too, but we still get the same payrate, it's just seperated. That's because the people hired before like 1986 get time and a half on Sundays. Guess who never works that day.
My wife got this deduction as well - She said she it was some sort of legal fee deduction - Atlanta Division...
Does anybody know for sure what this deduction is. this is the first week it showed up and nobody can figure it out - She just got to work 15 minutes ago and I'm sure will be finding out more later...
If they hired a lawyer for the recent contract, that would explain the legal fees.. sux, tho. I thought that would be covered by union dues.
Someone posted about being called to office to sign some paperwork for HR. Might have been the same thing?
btw, I get an extra $2 an hour on Sundays.

Just so this thread doesn't get lost - here is an update for my post below... At the end of her shift at 9 pm on Friday, nobody knows what the deduction is for - yet. Not a Manager, Co-Manager, Union Rep, Employee, Et Al... It appears everybody got this deduction including department managers and backups. The amount seems to vary between $28.00 for part-time employees and $39.00 for full-time employees. 2 full days have passed since payday and there is still no explanation from Kroger. 2-Freakin'-Days! To say everybody is pissed-off would be an under statement. Where the heck is the Union with an explanation. If this is a charge because of recent arbitration (as mentioned above) then couldn't this be a slap on the wrist to teach everybody a lesson so they won't vote against future contract proposals the first time around? Dismal... I've never seen an employer this bad.

I talked to my manager and read a memo sent out. From what I gathered, it is for the lawyer that the union offers us, and they simply had to tax it. It is still very confusing to me. But they should have taken it out and put it back in minus the taxes. That is why you see it listed twice. I have also heard that it is retroactive tax for union dues. I know that it was taxes of some sort. I am upset because there was no notice of this before it was taken out of our check. I don't like the thought of an outside organization being able to take out of my check what they wish!
