Luckily I didn't but our store had a close call tonight. Someone paged delivery to the back dock but the truck was about to leave. I knew the truck was previously unloaded when I looked inside so I closed the door just before it started pulling away. I wasn't aware that the same truck was parked at our dock for a half hour after we unloaded it. Just fortunate that I didn't get hurt. My guess was that the driver had called the service desk saying he was leaving but the service rep misunderstood him.
Based on how we've unloaded trucks here, no one should ever get trapped inside a Kroger truck.
The truck drivers are required to have us sign off on this stuff. Then he moves around some of the pallets in the truck to prepare for delivery, closes it, and tags it again (if needed).
tl;dr, our truck drivers are the ones who will be the last person out of the truck.
Well, I knew a reciever that had a pallet of salt fall on him. He had to use his cell phone to call store to get help being unburied...
When I unload a truck, I let the driver out the back door so there has never been any confusion for me.
I have heard stories about power pallet jacks falling on the ground because driver pulled away from dock.
And other stories about the sides of beef and a rail system. You had to make the jump from the truck rail to the store rail just perfect or you were screwed! You fell with the side of beef.
I'm the OP and the guy that helped unload the truck. This whole situation was a misunderstanding because I had assumed that the driver had left already and was led to think it was a different truck. There was a half hour gap and had other responsibilities so I couldn't keep track on whether or not the driver had left. So I just assumed it was a different truck because I was paged there by the service desk person. Either the driver called and the service desk misunderstood him or someone else saw the truck at our dock and thought that we hadn't unloaded the truck yet. There wasn't a second truck waiting so the only conclusion is that there was a misunderstanding somewhere along the way. Humans are prone to misunderstand things so I can't really point fingers I'm just glad no one got hurt. What helped was that the truck was entirely empty so I didn't climb on to check if it was our stuff.

The thing about our store is that the driver has to be there when you open the truck. We can't just cut the tag and open it ourselves.
