How's your availability?  They cut all of our hours and hired alot of new people.  I found some hours in another department and opened up my availabilty.

As long as they don't give any of the new hires more hours than you have, you're fine.

If you're availability is limited or if you work up front this could be the problem. Baggers and cashiers get circa 14 hours at my store, and they're ALWAYS hiring more so we can't make more than $90/week. If you want full time then you have 3 horrible options: 1. Attain a lead or DH position. The DH isn't as bad because you get top pay immediately, but both positions are very stressful. Especially if your managers preach on Key Retailing often. 2. Work night crew. Due to the undesirability of working from 10 pm to 7 am, night crew can be a fast way to full time. Kroger also gives you an extra $0.50 an hour for working 3rds, which, to be honest, could not possibly be fair compensation for the health risks you are taking on. And 3. Join the M1D program which puts you in a management position. This has requirements obviously. You gotta be a department manager or hold a college degree. There's no doubt you'll get full time as a co-manager, but working 50-60 hours a week for an initial pay of about $28,000 just doesn't seem very awesome to me.

A lot of our front end people are looking at other jobs over Kroger. We had one move to home depot and is now making at least $2-$3 more than the rest of us. Another works for a bagel shop and again treats Kroger as his lesser second job and he's willing to give up some of his shifts.

We also have another who works at CVS, also treated Kroger as his pathetic second job because of the crap pay and petty hours. He's now full time at CVS making more than us on average.
