Customers have shown more interest in the t-shirts than any other aspect of this promotion. I've been asked by customers if they could have a t-shirt and I've happily given them out because we're stuck with boxes of them, just like we were stuck with a ridiculous amount of Refresh t-shirts. That seems to be the only part of this promotion the customers like.
I think it is a way to promote and sell more Ethinic foods. We have Mexican type products in our grocery aisles that do not sell on a regular basis and then expire causing Shrink..We are getting product distro'd to us in bulk that sells one can per year! And other products that I have never seen in our store.

do you actually go to mgmt office to get them one or just strip on the spot? i think the latter would make this promotion a lot more interesting.

I heard the next promotion is Taste of Italian.
I wouldn't mind a Taste of Italy at all. Classical music, Italian artwork throughout the store, amazing food, and designer uniforms. Maybe even sweeten the pot by giving away a Maserati. ;)
I've been to a few other ATL stores and doesn't look like it's been successful. Meat & Bakery's are full of markdowns. We don't even make the fresh at 4 churros that we advertise on the PA.
My store manager even wanted me to take the window signs down but there's still another week to go I think.
It hasn't been a success here. I've noticed a cut back on demos.

I don't think any store makes the churros at 4:00. Everybody makes them in the morning and puts them out in the donut case with the rest of the donuts. They're really not very good, even when they're hot. They're downright nasty when they're cold. Most donuts taste pretty good when they're cold. Not these.
A store I went to had the local country radio here today giving out t-shirts and a station sponsored giveaway on one side, on the other side we had a taste of mexico tent sponsored by P&G giving out free dish and laundry soap. Truly a taste of mexico. Haven't seen one customer buy a mexican food item other than the occasional hard shell taco kit.
Did Kroger really expect the general public to get into the spirit of "Taste of Mexico"? I like Mexican food, but I don't need a special promotion to tell me I should buy it. Also, real Mexicans probably get their food from specialty stores and not some big chain like Kroger.
