Bakery Day Trash & Their cardboard boxes to take out.. They wouldn't dare do it themselves
Two Dirty Slicers
One "Meat Juice" Tray filled up that if you move it, you spill it..
Cold Chicken non boxed with instructions to box it..
Several Treys to do.
And then your usual closing stuff/costumer service/etc. I've worked both shifts day and night and never ever has it been "that bad" I wasn't able to get alll or at least most of the things done on that list..
Not yet but I hear we are getting them, We are still using the wooden ones. I will be thankful once we get them tho.
the meat juice, not clean slicers/chicken area is just gross for a costumer stand-point.. I will come in sometimes with 10 meats/cheeses just waiting to be wrapped because they are too lazy and too much in a hurry not to put it up when they are done with it

Agreed! My biggest pet peeves are dirty scales, and meats and cheeses still left out after a rush. Leaving a giant roast beef abortion on the slicer isn't too much fun either.
Our biggest problem is that they've put too many other duties on our day time counter help... sandwiches, wrap trays, etc.. and the customer service suffers horribly, and all the equipment looks like hell because they are so focused on going back to their side-work. It's a real bad scene. Also doesn't help that our two daytime full-timers are dumb as soup, and slow as hell.
Afternoon and evening work in the deli and bakery is basically cleaning up. The morning crew spends its time preparing the food and putting it out. Sure, you try to clean up as you go but you don't always have time to do that. Their main job is to get the product out for sale for that day.

Unless required take bakery's trash and give it to them to take out. Put it in their dept and leave it. Just take care if YOUR responsibilities. And tell management of lazy ass morning co workers.
Shouldn't the slicers be cleaned at least a few times a day? I'm taking caked on roast beef juice/ cajun turkey sliced over on top of a honey ham or Bologna.. Ew!! And the summers are worse because of the fly situation.. Our Deli manager actually has night crew prepare the food for the next day too, After 6pm every day so it gets a extra day.. So basically all the opener does (and I'm also the occasional back-up opener) is set the case, do the dishes, and costumer service... Sometimes they don't even do their dishes.. When I'm opener I disregard the managers "rules" about only doing salads after 6pm I think there's plenty of time to do during the day, the day crew is just chatty, gossipy woman
The deli at my store has a combination of lazy teenagers and lazy old people which means that they'll fight over who has to do any actual work. one time the baler was too full so instead of making a bale they just threw their cardboard in the trash. their union must be stronger than the us government because that is the only thing keeping their jobs.
I've worked in the deli bakery for 20 years. I've come in as early as 4:00 AM on some days or as late as 12:00 PM on some days and everything in between. In comes down to this. Day work is basically production. Night work is cleaning. That's just the way it is.
we have the same problem at ours I am in a Ohio Store "pass the buck" no production, no markdowns, no clean as you go. Even our OSAT scores during deli day shift are horrible. I have seen costumer comments come in say they shop the deli after 4:30pm because of friendly costumer service, go figure. And management wont fix the issue because all the day shifters have been there for 30+ years and it seems like they are scared of them.
