How do you determine how much of a product to order? Is there a formula you can use?

Well, I know there's a way to actually look in the gun and see how much of the product you sold the previous days, and based on that, you can determine how much to order. I just go by my logic. When you work the product on the daily basis and order it everyday, you start realizing what sells, what doesn't sell, & what you get stuck with. That's what I do. I order based on how much I see the product has moved throughout the day. I don't see the point of ordering "extra", if the cases are just going to sit there for the whole week in your cooler, and take up valuable space. If the item is on sale and you know you will kill through cases, then yes, it's great to have it on hand incase you run out of it throughout the day. Just order what you need. Enough to have the shelf stocked, and enough to not have an unnecessary amount of back stock biggrin

 What department?

"Function" 3 will show you the daily sales volume for the month I think.  That is what I use when ordering for grocery.

I also order based on what I know will sell before the truck arrives in 2 days.

As for endcaps/sales items.  My grocery manager has mentioned the rule of thumb:  See how much sold for the week and expect that much to sell on the weekend.  Sometimes it works and other times it is backstock.
