I'm ready to give up

So last night I was only scheduled a 4 hour shift from 5-9. I had to do breakout and clean up.

Breakout took me until about 7 but the bread wasn't thawed so i went and cleaned the donut case, took back trash, etc. By the time I was done doing all that, it was 8:30. Which gave me an extra half hour to package cookies.

But apparently that wasn't enough for my manager who thought that I should have gotten more "Extra things" done. Never mind the fact that she didn't even put a damn order on yesterday, leaving my coworker to do it. But my manager thinks she's the only one who ever does any work.

I'm about ready to just say **** it, why bother doing ANY extra when either way you get bitched at?

that sucks! how about moving to another department? They're a chance you might have to deal with the same bull, though. hmm Like a wise coworker once told me: "The clowns may change, but in the end, it's just the same circus". Whatever you decide to do, I wish you well.

Do you pan out the bread when you do the breakout?  I bake and I do breakout,  and as a baker, I'd much rather pan out the bread in the morning when it's completely thawed and easier to work with.  The deli MR wants us to pan it out as we break it out but that takes too much time, especially when you're the baker and the person doing the breakout and the person breaking down the frozen order.  Whenever someone has panned out the bread for me I usually end up having to redo it because the balls of dough tend to roll around and some items such as Italian bread need to be stretched before putting them in the proofer.  Otherwise, they end up looking like footballs.  In the end, it really saves no time at all.  It actually wastes time.

Pssst.  You missed a spot on the doughnut case!

Your department manager sounds like mine.  Always saying he does so much work.  I still say we get more done when he takes a day off.

Yes I put all the bread on the trays at night. Here we do breakout at night so the baker has it all ready in the morning.

Guess what. She called me today. Asked me to come in early so we can "talk about it". Only because I about had a meltdown with the deli manager last night. I'm sure nothing will get better though. It'll just be a talk about how she expects more from me. I don't have any more to give. :(

Forgot the part too about how she texted a coworker of mine basically bitching that i didn't "get any of the cookies packaged" which was a ****ing lie. I don't think it's right that she's putting me down while talking to her "favorite".

Yea there's not really a point in beating yourself up over something you can't help. a human can only do so much work in a 4 hour shift. you did all you could. and never take **** from someone who only opens the deli, because production is 1000 times easier than cleanup.

Oh actually the deli manager is a very nice lady and was the one who said she'd have a talk with my bakery manager.

Have you thought about working in the deli instead of the bakery?  What about produce, nutrition, or salad bar?  Usually the guys take care of the real heavy lifting.  There's also dairy, frozen foods, and drug gm.   There all you're doing is putting product on the shelf.   Even meat department is basically stocking shelves.   Then of course there's always the front end.  The bad thing about that is you have to take your breaks when they tell you to.  Then, there's also having to constantly deal with customers.  Some people actually like it.  I, for one, would never go back to the front end.
