Would kroger be willing to work with me?

I was just hired at Krogers last week as a part time cashier. I have an interview for a fast food place tomorrow. If I get the job, will Krogers be willing to work with me so I can work both jobs?

That's probably going to be pretty hard. Seeing as you just started working at Kroger, you'll be at the very bottom of the seniority list. They'll prolly expect you to be closing almost every day. You could try working with your availability for both jobs, but, I doubt it will work out. There's also the fact that since you're a new employee, they can literally fire you at anytime for any reason.

Just fill out your availability for mornings only or nights only.  Schedule certain days you can work.  Then fill in the other jobs schedule with the remaining hours.  You probably won't get many hours at either job that way though. Kroger likes for you to work every weekend and every holiday and everytime they call you in.

Except they appear to be already past the point where initial availability is set, since they were hired last week. At this point, any new availability would have to be approved by mgmt.

I guess it depends on the manager.  I change mine all the time.

No, I had two other jobs, two to four hours about 3 days a week and they wouldnt work with me. In the end I was replaced at all my other jobs and only get 15 hours currently. If you are a student of any kind or work other jobs stay far away from here.

Because you have a decent environment consisting of:

  • reasonable availability requests
  • enough seniority to be able to expect your request to be approved (i.e. not a new hire)
  • good enough worker that mgmt works with you
  • reasonable mgmt who don't arbitrarily refuse requests

Unfortunately, others don't have the same benefits.

At least at the one I work at, hell no. They set out the schedules using e-scheduling and that's it. They will  not take time out of their day to fix it for you. If you wanted two jobs your other job would have to be the one to work with you. I can't blame Kroger. We are busy everyday of the week.
