Overnight Stocker

I have an interview coming up for an overnight stock position. I listed my availability as any day/any time until 8am. I have to work my second job at 9am. Will I I be able to get off by 8am every morning if I made sure to list that as the latest I can stay? I have heard bad things about Kroger disrespecting their employees so I am a little concerned.

Do overnight stockers have to go through the same orientation as the other employees? Are they flexible on the days/times that you must attend?

Lastly, should I bring my own coffee or is it provided? :)

Bring your own coffee.

Not sure how orientation works in your district.  Basically, safey video, CAO video and power machine videos.  You will need to schedule that when the time arises.

I am normally scheduled from 12am until 8:30am  for night stocking.  Other stores start earlier.  I could be scheduled from 12am to 4am, 12am to 5am, 12am to 6am or 12am to 7am if we had enough people to get the work done on nights.  If they hire you, the managers will have to decide if they can let you leave at 8am.

Good Luck.

I was a night stocker for about half a year. My store is pretty big and we have quite a bit of people on the night stock crew. You can always go into it and work hard but the better your crew is the easier your job will be. Basically if you have a bunch of chumps working with you your job isn't gonna be fun.

I always worked 10 to 6 or later (until the truck is done). Over the holidays I worked 18 hour shifts. It's summer time so you shouldn't have crazy holiday sized trucks...

You should go through the same general training that everybody else does (computer training, and 'customer first' training crap).

OP here.

Ive learned that I could be scheduled anywhere from 12 - 5am or 12 - 8:30am, but no matter what I always end up staying till 9am. I get overtime every week and im gunning for a full time position. I throw freight fast, everyone seems to love me for that. But im slow at blocking/fronting the aisles. I definitely enjoy the job though. Overnight is a very very chill shift.

Good to hear that you like night stock. At my store they can't get anyone to stay longer than maybe 6 months, which means having to train someone new on the aisles about every 2 weeks... Our canned vegetable/fruit aisle is pretty sketchy. Always check dates here v.v

Yup, another night grocery clerk bit the dust here.  He only lasted a month.

They said they want me to think about taking the night crew lead position!! I am very excited!!

Any idea what they pay increase might be? Difference in responsibilities? I will have to ask when I see my manager tomorrow!

 What state are you in?

The lead position here is about 50 cents more.  The night grocery manager is about $4 more if hired before 2010, $2 more if hired after 2010.

Here, the grocery manager makes the grocery order, make sure the work gets done in a timely manner, unloads trucks and checks fast alerts.

The lead does everything except the order.  Get used to using the CAO for adjusting BOHs.

Are they short on people?  Unusual for them to ask a new hire instead of posting a bid for everyone to sign.

Good luck with it.

A $2 premium for managing the biggest department in the whole ****ing store (excluding front end)? Basically an extra $80 a week that will go straight to painkillers, alcohol, tobacco, and therapy if anything's leftover.
