Happy, for the most part. I work for a store manager that isn't above coming out with a bunch of us to bring in carts for customers when we're out or very low. Additionally, he'll be up there too bagging away when the rest of us get called to the front to help. Plus, he's pretty good about the open door policy, so as long as he's not on the phone or real busy, you can go right upstairs and talk to him in his office or when he's on the sales floor.

Our current trio of co-managers isn't the best team we've had since I've been there as the better ones were gradually moved to other stores one by one, however, the three we currently have aren't bad and we've definitely had worse (although nobody truly terrible). All three of them are capable of showing empathy towards those employees that actually try and care, and will listen when an employee comes to one of them. They'll all chip in in their own way when it gets really busy, with two of them either getting on registers or bagging and the other taking over at self scan and sending the self scan attendant to a register to open up.

They do what they can and I just remind myself that in actuality, none of them really have that much control over what happens at the store as corporate pretty much dictates how everything needs to be done, so I don't put too much blame on them when problems arise. Yes, they may be deserving of some blame as they do have a little power and control, but they aren't deserving of all the blame.

Demons, awakened from the earth's crust when construction began on the store.
When construction was completely they appeared in physical form to torment the mortals whom had disturbed their slumber.
.......Most of them prefer Que-Vision since it is the only thing that can seem more evil than them.

I feel like my store is above average as far as management goes. Yeah, it's not perfect, but at the same time, for the most part, our managers do what they can to get the store to run as smoothly as they can. Most of the problems at my store stem from elms and things like that, where they aren't allowed to schedule over a certain number of hours, even if it's impossible to get the job done with fewer. They will, however, call people and change up schedules mid-week and take people from less-busy departments and have them work in more-busy departments if needed. Heck, they're willing to give overtime if needed too, as long as they know those employees they're giving overtime to are ones who actually do work as best as they can. I've even had one of the co-managers tell me once that he's ok with giving us overtime even though corporate keeps saying not to, because he'd rather make sure the store looks nice and runs well.

I have the best store manager in my 20 years at Kroger.  I once was asking him about someone scanning out of stocks when the case went out and we didn't make our count.  He said I'll worry about that you worry about taking care of our customers.  He's not big on numbers, he's big on happy customers leaving the store and coming back when they need groceries.  The rest will take care of itself.

Eh. They aren't terrible. We have a newer co, who is pretty cool with everyone, the older guy leaves us alone pretty much and the other guy everyone thinks is just weird.

The store manager is leaving next week, who knows what we'll get next....

Been in a month now; I listen and keep my ears open and my mouth shut. Gee, wish the managers would do the same. I really don't care to hear from several of them saying they hate each other. Many of them have no clue what customer service is, nor do they know about breaks, lunches, union, or pretty much anything else. I'm doing okay because I work all the hours others complain about. Don't want to work a long shift, call me.

It's a job folks, if you hate it, jump ship.

The problem is that you are already out at sea and are surrounded by sharks and garbage floating on the water.

Well, we can't trust the store manager, one asst, only cares if your shirt isn't tucked in, other asst, only cares where your standing!! But they will walk right by a customer who is bagging their own groceries!! We have a service manager, who doesn't know her job. She can't do the booth, the uscan, schedules, run the front end. She's an expensive bagger and checker!! O, yes, she straightens up the front ok!!!

Store manager - horrible, horrible, horrible. Spawn of Satan. Evil. Lies. Total jerk to everyone. Never anything nice to say about anything and complains when 1 person can't finish 3 jobs even though he interrupts that 1 person 60 times a day.

Co-managers and others - meh. Can't complain.
