... over the course of the past five months, ALL three of our co-managers have been moved to other stores, plus our store manager is being moved to another store (he's been at our store for THIRTEEN years and is retiring in less than a year and a half... WHY literally swap him with another store manager NOW!?). What. The. Hell!? Out of the twenty-one stores in our district, our Signature store is only surpassed by a Marketplace, a semi-Marketplace (a Marketplace-style Kroger, but minus the furniture and a few other things) and one other Signature store. Sales have been nothing but up and while our receipt tracker isn't fantastic (it's a 63% currently), can ANY Kroger store out there point to a receipt tracker that is anywhere NEAR the 80% target goal by 2015? We had a great team in place. Co-managers that cared and worked hard, a store manager that wasn't "above" helping out and was approachable, and while our new "set" of co-managers aren't bad, they still aren't as good as the previous ones we've had, and the new store manager we're getting is said to be incompetent (THREE years as a store manager who couldn't even succeed in a lower volume store, coming to a higher volume store? Yeah, that's sure to work out GREAT). It really shows how much we all liked our store manager when a bunch of us will be coming in on our day off JUST to attend his farewell party and wish him well.
I hate corporate.

My current store manager's final day was today. He'd be there for about 2 years and really wasn't doing so bad at all. He certainly cared more than the one who was there before.
I don't even know who they're bringing in next.
And I doubt any store is at 80% and ever will be. My store constantly stays around 62%.
Oh I am so pissed. I know several customers who are going to complain including myself. I will for sure shop less there knowing hes gone.
I hear you. I know the customers aren't happy. They like him just as we do and enjoy stopping and talking to him as he works his way around the store throughout the day. I've already been asked more than once if I know where he's being moved to, presumably in order to learn if it's "close enough" so that they could shop there instead. Of course, corporate doesn't care whether the employees OR customers are upset that he's being moved because corporate doesn't understand the employees/customers can form bonds and connections with members of management. I doubt though ANY number of complaints will do any good though, unfortunately.
It is so unusual to hear someone talk so nice about their store manager and co managers. That is the way it should be....your store was lucky to have such a management team. Too bad their not all like that at the rest of their stores. I've said it before, there is no rhyme or reason why corporate makes certain decisions. They need to keep the good ones where their at and seriously start getting rid of some of the incompetent snakes that they have managing their stores.
Eh... judging by the outside appearance of that store, it doesn't look like a very nice one. The parking lot isn't that big and there isn't even a Kroger Fuel station. Admittedly, appearance alone doesn't always paint a complete picture, but it looks like a step down for him. Sad.
I knew that we were lucky, for the most part, with our management team in the past (sure, there were a select few that I was actually glad to see shipped out elsewhere...), but I'm a lot less optimistic about the coming months. I hope to have the option of leaving by the end of this year because I can see potential problems brewing with this new management team and some of the other problems that have been coming up, and if I don't like where things are headed there, having the ability to put in my two weeks notice would be very beneficial.

Is he going to store 830 now? If so that's a big promotion 830 is a busy store.

Woah. Idk who you are anon, but yes you figured it out. My current store manager is going to 830.
And yes you're right, it was a promotion. But it sucks for us because it makes it seem as if we're a "practice" store or something.

Don't worry I'm one of the good guys. I just put two and two together.

My store is a practice store too. And I can't really complain. We've had a dozen co-managers in training in the past couple years and I'd LOVE to know how many of them have moved on to something better. Managers in training are usually easy to get along with and are very timid about making ANY enemies. Probably because all the department heads have to give their "seal of approval" before they move on to their next department. Have 6 new managers a year is a LOT better than having 1 new manager a year.

There is a fuel station at 695. The parking lot is still a bitch, though. It's a high volume store, great placement with a lot of upper-middle class families around. Being a FES there was a tad stressful.

I guess it's pretty recent then because Google Street View didn't show one, unless I missed it.
