your store: 1 or 2 FES?

Simple question, how many front end supervisors/managers do you have at your store?

Ours has two. But it used to have only 1. It worked better with one - except for that one, who got tons of stress (and both had to leave because of it). Now we've had two to replace the one who left. Sometimes there's only one at a time, other times two. It's getting quite annoying, because one can never be certain which one is in charge. Ask for a break, like as not one will tell you to ask the other one. Also, they're very poor on giving breaks. They year and a half before them, when I asked for a break I almost always got it immediately, the rest of the time in like 10 or 15 minutes when someone else got off. Now, it's this big ordeal, they make you feel like you're asking a huge personal favor. But if you don't ask, like as not they'll forget until it's practically lunch time or you're practically off. It's really like they don't understand that there's a good reason to have breaks, that's because productivity drops off when a person's been at one task for too long without a breather. Plus, they have some weird power-struggle control issue going on between them, like they're competing, jockeying with each other, and we're all the pawns. I find myself trying to figure out which one I dislike the most.

We normally only have 1 person in charge at any given time.

We have a CSM as I would imagine every Kroger store does. That person doubles as a FES as well as being the department head.

Then, we have a FES who is training to be the back-up to the CSM. She will still be a FES even after that, though, just as the CSM is still considered a supervisor.

Finally, we have five that are trained as FES that run floors throughout the week, on top of sometimes being scheduled for Customer Care/Self Scan/Cashiering.

Seven, then, all together, and we have two supervisors a day (used to have three on Sundays before e-Sked came along... and then, there went that...).

Some supervisors work well as a team when their two shifts overlap, others... not so much.

My store is about like GenesisOne's. 2 FES scheduled daily, with 3 on weekends. We have me (acsm) and the CSM, 2 who do it most shifts, 2 who do it some shifts, and 2 more who are training. So 8 total.
