When you get promoted from a bagger to cashier, does your seniority reset?

Hard to say.  I think so in regards to bumping other employees.  But, in regards to how much vacation you get, it starts from your hire date.

I generally think of baggers as under 18.  When they turn 18, payscale doors open for them.

If the bagger is over 18, I am not sure how it works.

The best person to ask is your shop steward.

It shouldn't at all. After all, it's technically the same department (Front End). You just got assigned a different task/role.

Actually, this varies by specific contracts. Some say they don't accrue seniority till promotion, which is what mine has said till now. Others say they have seniority just like anybody else. Mine says they have none until promotion, but then they have seniority dating back to original hire.

I've worked for Kroger for over 25 years and seniority has always been division wide, at least where I work.    That way if you transfer to another store that's under the same contract, your seniority date remains the same.  The only time we lose our seniority is if we transfer to a store that's under a different contract.  So naturally a person would keep his seniority if he simply transferred to another department.
