Transfer question

I have been with Kroger for 10+ years and I recently put in a transfer to another store which is closer to my home.  At the new store the manager has approved me for me to work there. I believe I would be #3 in seniority in the department. My question is, technically how long can my current store keep me before letting me start at the new store? Weeks? Months?

It depends.  If you're not full time and you're one of many in your department, then you should be able to transfer immediately.  If you are full time or if there's only a few people in your department, they may ask you to wait until they can find a replacement.   It took one guy almost two months  to get a transfer to our store.  He was full time though

They can pretty much keep you indefinitely if they so desire; however, how long they'll end up keeping you is random.

I have been working for Ralphs since April and I am wanting to go back to school. I wanted to see about a transfer to some where closer to home as it is now I am driving 20 to 30 miles one way every day that I work. SO I was wondering what is the best way to get about getting myself transferred to a different store?

Just tell your store manager. They'll understand.
