Your story implies you were caught smoking while others were given permission... Can you really not see the difference between asking for permission and sneaking and then getting caught?

That is exactly how it works EVERYWHERE, maybe it's not supposed to but that's how it works. Maybe these others are cool with management maybe not BUT it sounds like they got permission while the OP got caught after sneaking out. There's quite a difference between asking and sneaking, the OP saw the difference.
Now there's also no reason the manager has to let someone go smoke, this is where people need to learn how to play the game. Kissing a lil ass never hurts! Now take a simple yet annoying task nobody wants to do... Offer to do that task, the manager will be taken back they didn't have to chase someone down to do it.

Even if they "ask" they shouldn't be given extra breaks to go smoke while the rest of us pick up their slack. Why do some smokers seem to think they're so entitled to these things?
Hey, I smoke, and I bust my ass. Only smoke on my breaks, and only take my breaks when I get the all clear. Don't generalize, generalizations are true laziness.

I graduated with a BA in English (and yet I work for Kroger at the moment...me fail English? That's umpossible!). I edited the OP's post for grammar, style, clarity, wording, word usage, punctuation, intelligence level and, of course, the obligatory loss of all hope and general feeling of depression and rudeness that comes with working for idiots who are managers at Kroger.

To OP: It would help you to have sympathy on this board if you could provide a bit more detail. Such as, DID you sneak out in February or did you get permission? IF you snuck out -- which actually some employees at our store will do, although most smoke on their breaks -- were you busy?
I applaud you for quitting smoking. That's a rough habit to break. But it will save your lungs at least several years in the long run and possibly prolong your life span. Scientists are still working on that research.
Back to your post, it would also help if you would post what department you were in. Like, are you Front End? Because I would call you a liar since us serfs in the Front End spend two hours straight bagging and never get a chance. Then we get 15 minutes for a break and there's no way you can fit a smoke break into that. Good luck with that, "Bueler."

Yes, I was trying to imitate the commercial. I didn't even know the name of game is can't crush. Friend it trying to talk me into getting a Galaxy S-5. I don't even download apps so that should be interesting if I do get it.

I have to agree with the spirit of this.----------And I'm a former smoker, so I understand both sides of the issue.
Most smokers tend to be slower, less energetic, less productive and chronically sick. Why not? They're literally poisoning themselves to death. The very nature of that addiction blinds people into thinking everything is fine with them, and they can't see the reality of it until/IF they ever get away from those nasty things.
When ever we have a truck pull in needing unloaded, the smokers dart and hide like roaches when the light comes on.

I direct my rage toward the smokers who can't wait 2 hour without needing to take a "smoke break" if you can wait that long than grats otherwise screw smokers. It's a horrible and fowl smelling habit
