Does anybody else feel awkward/nervous to go into your Kroger store on your day off? I always get nervous because I'm afraid that they'll ask me to work.
I go in sometimes on my days off but I get my things and get out as quickly as possible to avoid unnecessary interactions. You do not have to work on your day off but don't expect to be treated like your average Joe gets treated in line. You are an employee and the others will treat you as such even if it's a bit rude or to a higher standard. Just do your shopping and leave quickly!

I go into my store on my day off all the time to shop, as do most people who work there as well. None of us are ever asked to work and we're always treated like regular customers as well, if not better. Even people who used to work but quit still tend to shop at the store a lot as well.

Yeah, me too. I don't understand these people who say they're treated like second class citizens whenever they shop at their store. For example, in another post someone mentioned that they were told to go through one of the U-Scan checkouts so they wouldn't tie up a checker thereby leaving them free to wait on other customers. That's just wrong. If that was the policy at my store, I'd tell everyone not to shop there. Don't these managers realize that their employees are a big source of advertisement for the store? I'm always telling people about all the things we have in the bakery. I tell them what's good, what's on sale, what's going to be marked down etc. Also, if someone mentions to me that they're looking for a certain item, I'll tell them if we have it. I wouldn't do that if I was treated unfairly when I shopped there.
Employees are, generally speaking, supposed to go through the uscan to buy things, but it varies widely by division and store how strict they are about it. Of course, once you're off the clock, they really have no say in the matter.
I been on vacation all week, and didn't want to waste gas going into town to see the new schedule, so I waited for it come out on e-schedule. If they changed it at the store with pen and ink, I'll say but the e-schedule said different and I didn't want to waste gas coming in to look at it.
I go into my store all the time on my days off and I've never been given any **** for it. Break some balls with management, talk to the coworkers I'm friends with, etc. Never been asked to come in and work or told to use u-scan or anything.

No store manager or FES can enforce a rule saying that employees cannot use regular checklanes. They can *ask* you to use uscan, but you have every damn right to use a normal checklane as long as you're on break/lunch or off the clock.
Never any awkwardness going in, but I prefer another store on my days off anyway because it's closer. And when managers really tick me off, I don't shop there when I leave work, either.
When I was manager, I never asked an employee that had come in the store anything about work, as my policy was myself was that once the name tag and tie were off, was that I am off work. No work talk, period. The more I did that, the more I got the same respect when I came in on my day off.

If i have to go into a kroger on my day off i DONT go to the one i work at. When i do have to go into the store on a day off (usually to check schedule) i go in check/get what i need and leave!
