Do Y'all care about Q Vision?

When you are off work and shopping do you care?  Do you watch the lanes, refuse to enter one if there are two people in line?  I got yelled at the other night by the comanager saying I messed up her Q Vison.  Well let's see, 6 lanes open, each lane had 2 to 4 people in line so I picked the shortest lane and got in line.  Funny how the customers in the other lanes didn't mess up the Q Vision, no she said it was me.  I waited until the customers were gone and I was finally getting checked out and I let her have it right in front of everyone (cashiers).  She wouldn't even look at me.  She just kept ducking her head down.  She finally looked up and said "we will talk about this tomorrow when you clock in".  I yelled at her, told her no you are not!  I'm on my time off, I'm a customer, and you aren't going to say a damn thing to me tomorrow!  Seriously, I'm not going to hang back until the lane clears and take the chance that another customer is going to go get in line in front of me. I don't have time for that.  Don't care.

I went in the next day and she was actually nice to me and didn't mention anything from the night before.  I'm waiting for what she is going to do to retaliate against me though, she's like that.  Might have to yell at her when I'm on the clock getting paid next time.  She just pisses me off.

QVision is one of the biggest Kroger money wasters ever invented. It has never worked right, so I don't give a f*ck about it.

I don't give one secret shopper's ass about Que-Vision.
As a courtesy clerk -- sorry, BAGGER -- in Front End, I have to worry about my total b-it-ch Front End Manager criticizing my bagging, my customer skills or whatever else she thinks I have done wrong at the time. I have to bag and go and go and go, on busy days I probably bag 40 or more individual orders an hour and you can bet most of those are $100 or higher.

I have to push shopping carts manually. No Wal-Mart turtle or rabbit here. And if we are busy we can't keep carts in the store. The small carts disappear like a six-year-old on an Amber alert and if I bring in 11 large carts at a time and return four minutes later, at least five of them are gone. And I do that in all kinds of weather, usually up a slope of the parking lot, while trying to manipulate around carts, pedestrians and hazards. And oh yea those pedestrians who become our shoppers when they enter the store don't give a crap about me or anyone else pushing the carts. No sir. They will walk direct at me when I am pushing 11 at a time and think that I am the one who should flinch in our little game of parking lot chicken. No thought as to the effort, weight of the carts, etc.

Back in the store we have gobacks but do we have enough staff to handle them? Nope. So bye-bye go-backs and hello shrink. While I'm bagging.

WIC orders take forever. Front End is always calling in floral, dairy, drug / gm to bag when we are busy and don't have enough courtesy clerks. Which is always.

And people pile cold items in the middle, front, back of their orders on the belt so it's a constant game of grab-and-go while trying to stay calm.

So...do I care about "Q Vision?"
The answer is no.
I have enough to worry about.
I don't care about Que-Vision's magical properties to see into the future and predict how many aisles will be open in 30 minutes.
The customers don't even have a clue what the numbers mean on the television screens. All they want is to go home.
Management frets and panics and all that does is create stress among cashiers, courtesy clerks and front end staff.
Even the U-Scan supervisors can end up feeling the squeeze.

Que-Vision is and always will be a piece of s--hi--t.

When I'm off work, I don't shop at Kroger. I'll take my money elsewhere, like Walmart and Aldi. Why? Because when I leave those stores, I leave with more money in my pocket. Generally speaking, Kroger is higher in price than where I shop, and I don't mess with the "buy #, save #" events, because those are designed to get a person to spend more money than they typically would, so I'd probably end up buying extra stuff that I don't need right now. People like to pick on Walmart for the company's practices, and yeah a lot of it is well-deserved, but Kroger sucks as a company too and should take more heat than it does for its business practices.

I stopped caring about Que-Vision once I realized corporate doesn't actually truly care about Que-Vision. If the corporate executives did, the stores would be more adequately staffed. If corporate isn't going to care, I sure as heck am not going to. Nothing in it for me.

The sheer amount of money they spent on Qvision is astounding. I can't help but think the return on that investment is minimal at best.

Of course I care about Qvision, it's a fantastic and innovate tool for improving productivity and customer satisfaction. Its metrics are accurate and you can always rely on it as a helpful guide. I have been in no way coerced into this comment and I speak of my own free will. We should all give to Qvision whatever it wants and I'm sure by doing so we'll get out of this alive. Help me, Qvision is keeping me prisoner at

Off-work: It depends, if we're close to 90%, I might choose to self-checkout instead of a register, unless I've got a huge order or something. No one has ever bitched at us one way or another, it's solely a preference because I empathize with the floor supervisors.

During work: If we have a solid schedule with minimal call-outs, I do care about QueVision, as I've found it's a *fairly* accurate metric of "How long a customer has to wait in a lane". On days where we've had smooth sailing on QueVision, I can definitely tell it's easier on everyone; cashiers and baggers get more breathers, supervisors aren't as stressed out, customers breeze through check-out with less hassle, etc. On days like today, when we had three cashiers when we needed six, and no baggers at all, I threw my hands in the air, said I don't care, turned the QueVision monitor in the office off, and left the CSM a note telling her to make a better schedule next time!

not really, i just want to get out as quickly as possible. the manager shouldn't have yelled at you. It's not you're responsibility to make sure they stay in queue when you're off the clock.

The part I bolded is the type of behavior i have seen daily from various people at my store. They tend to blow up at someone even if they had nothing to do with the problem. Yet if you hold your own or question them back they back off. I think this is problem overall with this company. You were off and not an employee at the moment and this person had guts to say that to you!

I dont care for q-vision because of all the calls i hear for people in my department and others to come help. If you are called to assist numerous times it cuts into your workload and getting things done. Kroger has so many problems that they just wish to ignore.

I don't pay any attention to Q-Vision due to the fact that I'm not a cashier. I also make a point not to shop during peak times, and I usually just go through U-Scan, anyway.

If I do go through a regular checklane, I make sure it's a cashier I know and is quick, and will avoid the ones where newer people are staffed when I can help it.

I try to shop at another store but sometimes I need a few items before I go home.  The reason I was so angry was because it's not my job on or off the clock to monitor the lanes.  Where was the floor supervisor?  Why didn't they call for surge help?  Why was it my fault instead of every other customer who was 3rd or 4th in line?  She just had to call me out in front of other employees and customers and I'm not the type to put up with that

I honestly haven't checked with the prices, but I think when I shop at Food Depot, even though they do the 10% at register for multiple items, I still save money than if I shopped at Kroger with my discount.

where I am company workers should not be in the lanes at all unless they're in civilian clothes and have a large order.  we're required to go through self-checkout in our own stores.

I'm a customer once I clock out, so, no, I could care less. I tend to shop at a different location anyway so that the managers I can't stand don't get my money.

Yeah, I can't blame you for that.  I would be ticked, as well.  You're off... so that stuff isn't your problem at that point.

I only shop at my store due to convenience.  I'm only a block from there, so going anywhere else is kinda silly.

Personally, I think Q-vision is a brilliant idea.

One of the area's Kroger can be better then its competitors is in faster check-out.

However, the way in which they are doing it is completely ridiculous. Instead of applying  the hours needed for the system to function they instead just use every department as backup cashiers/baggers.

So then, while the customer might have had a slightly faster checkout, odds are they didn't find everything they needed or they might have seen the store in worse conditions then they should be in.

They let Milk and bread run out at my store because they pull (for hours) the people that are scheduled to fill them.

I had a customer yesterday that told me we were out of milk.  She said she had never been to a grocery store that was out of milk.  I told her come back tomorrow LOL.

She said she had never been to a grocery store that was out of milk.

What value is a foodless grocery store?

The begging question for management is, is it worth being out of milk in order to massage the metrics?
