deli closed for repairs.

So the deli at my store was closed today for repair to the plumbing system that should have been fixed years ago. The only reason they are finally fixing this is because the health dept. started threatening to close it.  It was originally thought that the floor would have to be taken up to make the repairs but come to find out it can be repaired from the outside of the building.  Thing is our store manager left for his vacation Saturday and didn't tell our co-manager that the deli didn't have to close until Sunday after the schedule had been posted and too late to get people to cover the dept.

So do you think a store manager allowing this to happen will get in trouble form the higher ups?  For crying out loud we were closed on the 1st of the month, so god knows how many sales we lost.  And to top things off the plumbers only did some preliminary work, and won't be back to finish until later on.

But think of the hours saved!  Thats the only thing they'll think of and at least here it seems like the regional managers and store managers go back at least 20 years and its all good.  Did folks just not get hours or did they just close it for a few days?

Front end gets PLENTY of hours. Hell at my store they even get AT LEAST 40 hours a week from relief help. Thanks to the union though, management is very slow to discipline attendance problems. So if 2 jackass cashiers are NCNS one day, it has to happen 3 ****ing times before they're fired. I know you and me would never NCNS since we actually care about our jobs. There is always a scarcity of hours if they are not being used properly.

You no call no show here and you're getting a three day suspension and if you do it again within 6 months, you're fired.  Union can't save I've seen people do it more than twice, but they had to depend on their manager not doing anything.  And thats rare.  Three times?  Thats stupid.  No need to BS managers on a sick call I guess.

FES, "We have no coverage"

Me "You sent three cashiers to lunch at 6pm, of course you have no coverage"
