The more senior members get more hours than the less seniority ones correct?
I have open availability and I'm like 7th on the list of the cashiers on the schedule yet I get less hours than the ones below me (not by much, but like 4 or so hour differences). Some of them have open availability, some not.
I DO work for different position sometimes (drug gm some days, scan coordinator helper another). Should I tell them not to schedule me there if they are going to give me 4 hr shift vs a potential 8 hour shift on front end?
During holiday weeks schedules are made with inverse seniority if you're a part timer. You'll get less hours the next two weeks unless you tell them otherwise.

Not at our store. Our schedule is made according to seniority and availabilty and everyone's hours have been cut. I have about 4 more hours this next week than the ones with less seniority.

Have you tried claiming their hours if you can? If you are working 4 hours drug gm, see if there are cashier hours that day and claim 4 of them. I'm not sure about your contract but our contract states I can claim the daily schedule or weekly schedules up to 40 hours as long as the hours are consecutive and the employee I claim from has more hours than me.
I usually get more hours than the other cashiers when I work floral or drug/gm plus cashier during the week.

You say you work in other departments also. How many total hours are you getting for the week including front end and those other departments? If it's more than someone with less seniority, then you're good. You might have fewer hours on the front end than another checker, but your total hours in the whole store should be more.
