Do I have a choice?

I've been with Kroger for 2 years. Without going into specifics, do I have a choice if management wants me to work front end?  Seriously I don't want the stress of all of the responsibilities that goes along with that position.

what's your current job?

front end is the least stressful job and i'm front end. you just work until your time is up. the only thing i stress about is if i get my break on time or not and that's about it.

Sadly, no, you don't have a choice. Unless you are in meat shop under a separate contract than the rest of the store. management can pretty much do whatever the want with you,

If management wants you to work front end, then front end you shall work.
Unless you are on a different contract like meat or whatnot

In a world where every event is caused by earlier events, does anyone ever really have a choice?

Depends on what you do.  For some of us it's just non-stop stress.

You already have some great material.

Which of the other jobs at Kroger were more stressful for you?

Usually when they move someone to the front end, it's because they're not working out in the department they are currently in.  It's either because they can't handle the workload, or they call in all the time, or they don't get along with one or more people in the department.  Since you didn't provide specifics, we can only guess.

I was also a bagger. And it IS stressfull. As a bagger you are REQUIRED to deal with:

1. Come up when called. Exception: on lunch, break, off clock

2. Clean up after lazy arse co-workers

3. Being pulled 20 million different directions at one time

3. Bitched at because so and so never showed for tier shift and their cc duties werent done as scheduled

4. Bitched at for bitching and saying how it's not your fault they never showed

5. Being bitched at at how go backs were not completed by YOU, EVEN though there was an extra cc or two

6.  Making sure carts are COMPLETELY off the lot during your lot duty.

We had a guy that was transferred or moved to Front End here at my store.
He was working in Floral for the longest time.
I've never asked him why he now works Front End.
I've assumed it was because of something he did (or didn't do).
One of our Front End Floor Sups tonight told me I could go on break after this person came back from his break.
I said fine, no problem, but the FS said to let me know when it was a certain time because he might have to call this person over the intercom.
Claiming, "He likes to take his time". Paraphrased, I think the word might have been "goof off" or something. I don't really recall the exact phrase used, but it all meant that same.

Try working the customer service desk and tell me it's not stressful. I've been screamed at over 30 cents.  More than once.

I am in deli. Union representative said they cannot make me go to front end.

I would think being responsible for everyone's breaks, unhappy customers, and accounting is stressful.  No thanks.

Try being management. Stressful as hell when you don't ha e enough hours, knowing the whole time that you can not get done and that salaried management is going to come in and it'll be your fault you can't face the entire store and throw 500 pieces with 12 hours
