Greetings

I  would like to start a thread  in response to Brads post about  availability  .  How fair is it that a new hire change their  availability and  bump the senior people for a  day shift?  If you limit your availability  to early shifts  Does Kroger have to bump senior people to give you 16 hours a week?

Or..... why not just post in the original thread with your question?

smh

I can see why colleges now require computer literacy as part of the admissions process.

Why are you using Brad's name, but not yours?

Not necessarily.

A computer is only as good as the person that programs it.  If it sees that a new hire is only available for early shifts and the early shifts are already filled with senior employees, the new employee could get 0 hours.  Eschedule is supposed to take into consideration seniority, availability, ELMs, union contract rules, state laws and then special requests.  Then, the schedule writer is supposed to tweek it.  But, I have heard that the schedule writers are being graded and limited on how much they can tweek it.

When we first started Eschedule, all the dry grocery part timers on days were told they have to come to nights or get 0 hours.  There would only be hours for the Day Grocery manager and a DSD clerk.  5 out of 6 quit.  1 came to nights.  After Eschedule was rolled out, the store manager made shifts up for 2 full timers to be on days.  Dairy and Frozen were supposed to work nights also.  Never happenned.  So now, 2 years later, they have Frz lead, Dairy manager, Grocery Manager, DSD clerk, 2 full time clerks, 1 pt that works mostly in Dairy, 2 pt that work mostly in Frz, and 4 pt that randomly work grocery, dairy and frozen.

If a person gets 0 hours, they can file for underemployment if it is longer than 2 weeks.  I have seen this happen to the front end people.

at least in my division new hires are locked into the availability they had when hired until they're on the job six months.  doesn't mean people don't try and play games but, that's ok, you're on probation and we don't need you if you mess us around on availabilities.
