New hires stepping on veterans

Why does the management for Foodsco does not have empathy for thsir subordinates? I have been working with this company for quite a few years.. I've seen it go from a great place to work for because of the fact that one can work his/herself up. Little did I know that being promoted does not go with seniority but by favoritism. It's not by the work ethic at all because another young, fresh face was hired but was treated like she was the princess. Everything she did was right. She never even did utilift clerk jobs. She was considered a combo but most of her time was spent on the checkstand. When she finally became a cashier, the co-manager actually stepped out of her office to yell out "congratulations! you are a cashier now." I worked as a UC for a year before I can touch a register. Then when the store needed some help as a team lead, I offered but they kept giving me the run around on who I should talk to. Next thing I heard is that one of the supervisors said "so so can't handle the front end stress." So I asked why I was being judged? supervisor kind of nudged it by saying "I didn't mean it like that." But with no explanation why. So I moved on. But new hire is now helping as a team leader which is why I'm writing this. Favoritism exists because this new hire is constantly late so I don't see why she is more of a leader compared to me. I have put in my work with this company and respected this company because I thought this was like a family environment. Because of poor management, the hardworking, never late, reliable, happy, and most importantly loved by customers, cashier is no longer motivated to keep working as hard as I did this past few years. When a new hire is made to be seen as smarter than the veterans, how is management being empathetic to their employees?

Time to move on.  I've seen it here, miss sweet thing gets promoted even though she's not qualified.  Or even good for the job.  We have a manager like that.  I just grin and bear it.  Keep looking for other work.

I have been looking and had been limiting my availability. Never thought this company was like that. They will soon figure out that calling me in to cover anyone's shift is pointless. They need to learn that happy employees have a better impact on employees as well as the stores productivity. This is stated in the business management book!!! It's common sense. What management don't even realize is they are putting us down by letting someone who has not even seen half the things we, as

veterans, have seen like certain procedures that arise when a mistake was made and how it can be fixed. And for management to actually call me on the phone and tell me that miss sweet thang is running the front and ask her if I need anything is a definite fact that they have no respect or trust in me.

I've stopped killing myself over Kroger a long time ago. Trying in this company only leads to stress. I've seen several very good hearted people go to shambles over stress from store management... Stop trying and you'll have a much better time.

Because seniority is totally more important than work ethic.

I'd be more than happy to promote a 20-year-old kid with four years of experience with the company, but reflects great work ethic and attitude over some 60-year-old hag that relies on "seniority" to even stay in the company.

You totally missed the point. I am nowhere near 60. I am only 3 years older than the new hire. They just like her more because her cousin is already a supervisor for the company. Another example is that, another person hired before her is still a Utility Clerk and has been there 3 years. How does a new hire go from UC to cashier to lead in one year. Also, she is sleeping with someone in the company. So, the lesson for getting promoted is to sleep with someone who knows someone.

Im guessing you are one of these crappy managers. Where did you see the part where this new hire has any experience at all? It's not stated and again a typical management attitude.. Assuming everything that you think about is correct. Sorry I forgot to mention that the new hire has no experience, her first job. Let Us lay the fact out. I have been working for this company for 4 years, I am in school for retail management, go to work 15 min early and is loved by my customers.. Now the new hire has been late pretty much on her every a scheduled shift, first job, was hired a little over a year ago, and one of my customers heard her demandEd me to do something because she said rudely "I'm off!" So my customer thought she was rude. And when I talked to management about how she talks to people, because a few of us has dealt with her approach on being a lead. Management said she is just being assertive. Wow! Crappy managers lead to crappy employees.
