So today i am no longer an employee with kroger. I made a bit of money while i was here but after seeing what goes in with this company I know understand why people dont stay here for long. There are some good hard working people in this company but how much longer can they hold on with these policies and the new hires with the contracts they are given.
To all that have given me advice on this forum I would like to say thank you. As far as myself as many others have stated you have to "watch out for yourself" and when an opportunity comes up to better yourself you must go after it. I am ready to move on with my life and job.
Good job. I'm actually working on finding a second job myself. I got a call from Subway early yesterday---not my first choice but if they can offer me full time or more stable part time I'll probably quit Kroger and go with them.
Good Luck to you! I'm glad you decided to leave, you will be so much happier!
FES - hope you get the job at Subway!
I've been gone from Kroger for 2 weeks now and I'm so glad I left. Saturday a job just fell in my lap - I'm working at a floral distributor near my house. All the work I can handle, I can work from 7 am to 11 pm each day. (Valentines Day). Pay is about what I was making at Kroger and it's so much fun, I really enjoy it.

Where are you going next? Any idea?
I don't think anyone at Subway gets full time other than the store manager. If you're over 18 and need more money then try to get a job at a Fedex or UPS as a package handler. You'll work like 2am to 7am for 3-5 days, but you'll be paid like $11 an hour and be able to still work at Kroger.
Subway isn't a BAD place to work for from what i've heard but the pay sucks. They can do all sorts of weird scheduling too, like 2-3 hour shifts, or even split shifts.
They can schedule you just as little hours as Kroger, I know someone who worked there and she had weeks of like 8 hours. She's pregnant and that type of pay just wasn't enough for her or her fiance so she quit.
Y'know, I found out that the 7-eleven closest to my house starts people at a dollar more than Kroger does. And it's like 20 times less work, too.
Yes from what I have heard there are jobs where you do start off with pay a bit more than what kroger starts you at and DOESNT bury you in unrealistic work loads!
