my question pertains to the fact that I have an ongoing injury. its not from work but me working is making it worse. I had to call in twice with a note from the doctor stating I could not work. they wrote me up after the first one. this last one my doctor put me off work for 5 days and gave me a note stating it was due to an injury. if I have a note stating I cannot work for and length of time can they suspend me?

I don't think they can suspend you, but they might use that as a reason to give you less hours or let you go completely.

I have an ongoing back injury that I'm scared to let anyone know about because of this.

I would say no. Also, I don't think they can write you up for a (doctor) excused absence.

Nope. And they can NOT write you up for it. Doctors note trumps ALL write ups. I hope you refused to sign. When I was out with a doctor's note and they TRIED to write me up, I laughed right in front of their faced and left. Leaving the write up unsigned. If looks could kill, I'd be dead from the look management have me. That look could curdle milk.

they can stop giving you hours until you have a doctors note stating you are cleared to work. if it's not a work related injury

They do have a note though.  And they still got written up for it.

They should fight it. A doctor's note trumps ANY and ALL write ups. If they are in the union get them involved and the write up revoked.

The union contract/labor laws don't stop them from doing actions, they give you a way to get what you deserve if they do take those actions. If you don't tell anyone who matters about it, they can do whatever they want.

No one at Kroger knows I have had a hernia for the past year-and-a-half, going on two years now.
And I have to push those goddamned shopping carts manually. Up to 11-12 at a time sometimes.
And up a slope depending on where I get them from. And I have to manually turn the entire row 180 degrees - twice.

Then there are the 50-pound bags of dog food, the 20-pound containers of water, etc.
All this on a hernia. Surprised I haven't strangulated myself yet.
But no way am I telling them about it.
The SOBs may be trying to force me out through low hours as it stands now.
I know that if they knew I had a hernia they'd do what it took to make me leave.
Paranoid? Perhaps. But this is Kroger. As an employee, if you aren't paranoid, you are an idiot.
