Hi I am in training for a new store in Texas and was told when I was hired that I would be eligible for Insurance in 90 days and I only had to work 15 hours a week to qualify. They also guarantee 15 hours a week. I also was told after 90 days I could add my family on the policy. Today an employee told me that would be a year before that would happen. Does anyone know the truth to this? Kroger doesn't pay worth a crap but it will be worth it to be able to get insurance from Kroger and drop my husband's insurance at work. He is paying around 900.00 a month so it will be like I am making an extra 900.00 after the insurance kicks in.

 At my Texas Kroger you have to work 26 hours per week to be eligible for insurance.  Most employees have trouble getting that many hours on a regular basis which results in them loosing their insurance, then having it reinstated, then loosing it again.

Quit right now, the basturds are lying to you. You have to work for a year and average 32 hours to qualify for insurance. Your husband will probably not be covered. You must be pretty stupid if you think Kroger would pay thousands of dollars every year to provide insurance for someone working only 15 hours a week. Did you already drink the Kroger kool-aid you freaking homo sapien

Wow bitter much. people like you are why working conditions are bad. I only came here to ask a question not be insulted. You do know that every state is different right. Just because where you are at doesn't mean it is the same here. I will find the facts out for myself before I get a ****ty attitude and trash the company. I know Kroger has it's issues but so does every other company.  So saying this I don't plan on coming back here so I will bid you farewell you ****ing *******.

Kroger pays for the insurance for it's part time employees?  When did that start?  I thought the employee had to pay the premiums through weekly payroll deductions.

 I think it might vary depending on the state, In ohio I was told I only needed like 20 hours a week to keep the insurance.

 Employees pay their premiums weekly, yes, but the company pays much more than the employee. Depending on contract, employee premiums may be as low as 10% of what kroger pays.
