Customers that get "upset" because employees choose NOT to risk their lives/vehicles...

So our already struggling OSAT score took a pretty bad hit again this week because last week, we had a significant winter event overnight one night involving ice and snow that led to treacherous road conditions in the morning. Schools/businesses closed and local city officials/police advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and stay home if possible until conditions improved. Well, a bunch of us called in because conditions were bad enough where it didn't make sense to risk getting stuck/damaging our vehicles/getting hurt and management understood, but guess who didn't understand? Yep, the self-entitled, ignorant customers that ignored the warnings on the news and still insisted on venturing out to the grocery store, cause going a day without going to Kroger is, apparently, impossible for some. These customers then decided to flood the survey with "unsatisfied" ratings and complaints about how "there should be more people working" and "where's the milk? Eggs? Bread? You're out of everything!" Blah, blah, blah. Never mind the fact these same people had come through with $200.00-$300.00 orders again and again over the past couple of weeks due to the on again/off again winter weather, which sometimes hit, sometimes didn't.

Yeah, no, I'm not risking it if conditions are bad outside just because some people gotta shop no matter what. I choose not to be stupid and reckless and it's not my fault if customers choose to be. They can flood the survey with negative comments aplenty for all I care.

Suggest to management they put a sign up by the front door.  "Due to weather our shipments are coming in late, we are out of *(&^%, we apologize for the inconvience."

Doubt they'd go for it because they might miss out on sales. People might be disappointed that they can't get certain items, but if they're already in the store, they might still buy other stuff or opt to not put the stuff that might already be in their cart back. If they see a sign like that on the doors before they even come in, then they might turn around then and there and try their luck at another store.

Customers that throw a fit when employees don't show up in bad weather just makes me mad because it's these types of customers that make it harder for us to call in when conditions outside are too perilous to risk. It's these customers that pops into management's heads when taking a call from an employee that's calling in because of bad weather and may result in management being less understanding. I'm not saying all customers are like this, but there is enough selfish, inconsiderate and reckless ones out there that will make a big enough stink in person and in the survey for it to make an impact and make our lives in retail even less pleasant than they already are.

Customers literally have no regard for you or your safety. One time I was cutting meat for someone in the deli when the fire alarm went off and an announcement said we had to evacuate. I stopped cutting the meat to leave and he said "hey! What about my order?" I told him he could come back and I'd be happy to help him once it was okay to come back inside, but he said "forget it!" and stormed off. And other customers kept asking me if we HAD to leave.

Then you have the customers who come in on Thanksgiving and give you a sympathetic look while saying "oh no, you have to work on Thanksgiving? That's awful." Yeah gee it sure is awful, I wonder who helped contribute to that?

When my doors went down in my department, and had to pull all product, we had no waffles, juice, etc for two days. Maintenance crew had some trouble with the compressors. One of the customers said the company should go out business over this.. I honestly was hurt by that because it was very unreasonable and selfish. Just because she couldn't get her ****, the company supposed to go out of business? Our equipment is not immortal. They break down..and as an employee it's my job to protect the investment by taking it off the shelves and moving it to the freezer. I didn't see her again after that, and frankly, I'm glad. Because some customers I don't want shopping at Kroger because they don't deserve our sales.

Thankfully when the frozen warehouse was flooded some years ago, and the depart had NO PRODUCT for a week.. customers were more understanding. But that was years ago. I miss those customers.

The earth needs a plague. I'm quite serious, we're over due by some 500 years and perfected health care. We're between 6---7 BILLION people, and these numbers (exponentially increasing as I write) are unsustainable. With all that said........

Between the agitation of people fucckking EVERY where now, liberal policies rewarding the breeding of more of them, conservative policies not wanting any one any where to earn a decent living, and----MOST ESPECIALLY----this over whelming societal belief everyone has that they're ENTITLED now, causing them to act out like 4 year olds throwing temper tantrums when being told no on something....................................................Yes, there are days I fantasize about locking in a store full of these vermin and pumping that Nazi Germany gas, Zyklon-B, through the air vents.

WHEW. Good these are just rantings.

And that angry attitude when we tell someone that a truck didn't make it in last night because of the ice.... because we're supposed to go out and get it unstuck so they can save 10 cents on a can of biscuits.
