Isn't it annoying and awkward how pressuring Union representitives are? Why can't they accept no without any questions. Worse than door to door salesman.

If only.

I'd love to talk to mine.  There are contract violations (courtesy clerks worked as grocery clerks), laws broken (emergency exits semi-permanently blocked), and grievances to be filed.  District 10 could really  use active, aggressive, motivated union folks.

Kroger doesn't accept "no" for an answer either and you're not complaining about that.

If they accepted "no" anytime someone said it not a single person would be in the union, in right to work states, and Kroger would just walk right over top of you and your rights as an employee.

Fired because a can was turned backward? Oh, well. Deal with it.

Manager giving extra raises to people just because they like them? Want to file a grievance? Too bad, deal with it.

Want to have a vacation? See your family? Too bad, get back to work and deal with it. You're a slave.

Worked over 40 hours and Kroger refuses to pay you the OT? Deal with it. We can't pay you OT.

Get old and unable to work 60 cases per hour because your back hurts from all the years of throwing water? Nope, you're fired. Deal with it.

Making $13 an hour? Hell no. You're fired. Deal with it.

Your manager doesn't like you? You're fired. Deal with it.

If you are unable to put up with a little annoyance just to tell someone "no,  don't want to be part of the union, but I want everything you have to offer for free" Then you have no resolve and deserve what you get.

Welcome to Kroger.

Well I would have said the above in a nicer way, but that's the truth. It's the only reason I encourage people to get in the union, and I have a good eye for good workers. We do need more of them, and I'd hate to see them get thrown away by selfish managers.

My contract specifically states that union reps are not permitted to have lengthy discussions or disrupt the work of an employee in the store.  If you can, get a copy of the union handbook and go over their head and report them.  You may even want to write out a statement and give it to the person who is harassing you and mail a copy to the union.

I had something similar happen to me at work.  We have a bank inside our store.  They kept trying to get me to open up a checking/savings account.  They asked me every day.  I said no thanks every time.  Well the bank MANAGER said "I'm going to keep after you until you open an account".   Oh hell no, I put a stop to that right then and there.  But I wouldn't suggest you do what I did lol!

One day they had the paper checks in the breakroom. Inside was a guy from the bank inside the store. I couldn't pick up my check until I talked to this bank guy about direct deposit. It kind of pissed me off because I already HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT with another bank, I just don't like direct deposit. I like getting a paper check. If I had had somewhere else to be that day I would have been really pissed, because both the bank guy and the comanager were back there basically pimping out the bank inside the store and it took several minutes for me to say "I'll think about it" just to get my check I earned.

Have his business card? Give the info to EVERY INSURANCE AGENCY POSSIBLE and then he'll get a taste of his own medicine. If you really want to piss him off, visit used car dealers on your day off, and ask them to call that number when they find a "mechanic's special" at auction.

Did they put a gun to your head?  Should have said no, I want my check and stood your ground!

Surprisingly, no they didn't but considering this is Kroger, nothing would have really shocked me.

Wait until they are really busy, like on a Friday when everyone is coming to cash their checks.  Go in and tell them you are there to open an account.  Have a seat and ask millions of questions.  And while you're at it, ask about some financing on a new car.  And a house!  Tell them all about your problems (imaginary or real, you decide).   Get to the point where you are almost ready to sign and say "changed my mind".  LOL!
