first day as a grocery clerk, manager said someone will give me a tour and show me the ropes. but where do I go when I first get there? obviously there's not going to be someone waiting there for me. lol
Try not to be pushy, but "demand" to have someone show you things. Be nice about it. Be polite. But be persistent.
Kroger's way of "showing you the ropes" is putting you in front of a computer screen and having you watch videos for eight hours.
Then if you are lucky you get put with someone in your department who knows what he or she is doing. But you usually get that for a single day. Four hours, if you are lucky sometimes you get more than that.
After that, Kroger expects you to know it all, be it all, do it all. And if you are unfortunately enough to be a courtesy clerk, you are expected to be a science experiment gone haywire with a DNA combination of Stretch Armstrong, an octopus and Wile E. Coyote.
Depending on your department you might want to consider having yourself cloned.
Or if you have a twin having them come in on the same day as you...either way, Kroger is going to want you to do everything that two people can do with the same amount of hours and same amount of time.
haha yeah I've been reading that its pretty bad but I'm sure I can handle it. just confused on where to go when I get in the store. I guess ill just ask for the manager when I get in.
Ask for the manager or tell customer service you are just hired and have them page whomever is the Supervisor for that shift.
Most likely customer service won't know a thing BUT whomever is behind the desk (Customer Service is run by Front End, by the way) will know who to page and / or call.
You may just get told to go to the back and find person X, and go from there. But yea asking for the manager is a start, add when you talk to CS what you wrote here, that you're a new hire and you need to know where to go)
