Sorry to anyone who like honestly uses welfare/EBT/WIC or whatever but holy **** I'm so sick of trashy looking people coming in smelling like weed or obese rednecks with terribly behaved kids buying 15 full cartloads of Mtn. Dew or other soda or chocolate or candy or any of that ****!!! These same people unload their **** so slow and they leave their carts like 5 feet away from the others in the lobby just to make you go get it all while they say "Oh man I can't work I gotta have my welfare" WELL NO ****ING **** you can't work! You sit at home all day drinking your g*ddamn Mtn. Dew that you buy 5000 cans of or you're too busy getting high or popping pills to go work! Then we have to respect you while you buy $500 worth of junk food on your EBT card and don't pay a cent. Guess who has to pay for it you lardass? US. TAXPAYERS. WE PAY FOR YOU TO SIT ON YOUR ASS AND STUFF YOUR FACE. God I haven't been here long but boy am I starting to hate all these people who obviously don't need welfare using it and abusing it and I'm especially sick of people buying unhealthy garbage with welfare money when they should be using it to be healthy and keep themselves sustained to find better work, not sit on their couches eating 15 bags of chips and drinking 12 cans of pop a day. I don't know if it's this bad outside of the Southeast but damn is it bad here
That sort of thing is very frustrating to see everyday especially because a lot of them buy things (steak, lobster, etc.) that I can't afford to get. Honestly though I've come to realize that there is nothing I can do to change that so it's not worth getting myself worked up over anymore. If they're going to spend your taxpayer money, at least they are spending it in your store and not somewhere else.
when i started at kroger i was on ebt and made every penny count because kroger was paying me next to nothing and hours were low.
that said i've noticed at my store we burn through those snow crab clusters when they go on sale because of very high ebt purchase rates. I feel badly for the self-supporting hard-working types who are SOL because they work too late and have to go away with rain checks.
you're right too many of the men smell like pot and they pull a hundred off their gangsta roll to pay for the non ebt items. it's a just a slice of everyday life in Atlanta division.
What gets me is they come driving in their NEW OUT OF THE FACTORY 2015/2016 car, come waltzing up with their NEW iphone 6s and use their EBT card to buy food. Hell, I can't even afford an iphone 6s... at the moment at least.
First of all, I've been cashiering for 2 years. I RARELY see EBT customers who are fat annoying trailer trash that buy a million cans of Mtn Dew. Do they happen? Yes. But most EBT customers are normal people. I've seen plenty of well-dressed white people buying organic produce with EBT. Most of the fat drugged out people are buying cigarettes or alcohol, neither of which you can buy with EBT.
It's this kind of divisive attitude that has our country where it is now. Like the guy above said, as Kroger employees, we ALL qualify for welfare! We are ALL poor! What do you get out of raging at fellow poor people like this? Do you feel better about your own social status now? Poor people, believe it or not, are people too.
People who get angry about welfare need to grow the h*ll up. Addiction and mental problems, even binge eating, are all illnesses. Would you get mad at someone who is on EBT because they have cancer? I'm THANKFUL that at least some of my taxes go to putting food in peoples' mouths. It's way better than where the majority of our taxpayer money goes -- right into corporations' pockets and into defense spending.
Exactly, I know people out there do abuse the system but i'd rather have my money go towards helping people than helping the government start another war for oil.
